Hard test from Penzance -
The penultimate race of the NIPA old bird season was flown from Penzance, birds were released on Saturday in perfect conditions at 7.00am in a Lt NE wind. It turned out a hard fly with many lofts still waiting for birds at the various clock checking in local clubs. A typical Penzance, even in perfect conditions a big test. Best bird locally was timed in Ahoghill by long serving Chairman Tom Young who had his small team of birds coming well recording velocity 1255 to finish 1st MAC, 1st Sect B & 8th Open NIPA. When going to press he had the best claim for the Queens Award trophy put up by the RPRA for a single bird nomination. Despite a big final effort by the competing lofts it was a grand finish in the MAC Competitions. Well done to J & M Milliken who lift both awards at Penzance, and who have had a fantastic season. Stewart Bros runner-up in Randalstown were best in the OB Knock-out while in the Champions League Ahoghill runner-up Paddy McManus was just behind J & M Milliken. A top class finish by all concerned and special congratulations to deserved winners J & M Milliken who had another dream season. They timed at 3.05pm flying 341 miles for velocity 1236.
