Seven Towers Championship (Ballymena) –

As the season has well and truly finished it is now time to publish our awards for the 2018 season. This was the first season for the Seven Towers and it turned out to be quite the year, from C & D Jackson winning the first race flown from Mullingar 1st Open NIPA Area Lib on velocity 1370 to Surgenor Bros winning 1st Open NIPA from Talbenny YB National.

The first ever Seven Towers Champion Loft winner was R H Clements of Harryville, if you look the results weekly you will not be surprised by this as Roy always featured, Roy had 3x1sts, 3x2nds, and various other top positions. Roy also timed 4 on the night from Talbenny which turned out a difficult race, only beat by Surgenor Bros as mentioned won 1st Open NIPA. The Top 5 in the Champion Loft are as follows: 1. RH Clements Harryville, 2. Surgenor Bros Kells, 3. K & K Kernohan Harryville, 4. A Darragh Cullybackey, 5. A McBride Harryville.

We then turn to the first ever Ace Young Bird. The winner of ace young bird was K & K Kernohan of Harryville. This pigeon was timed in Roscrea, Dunmanway, 5 Bird, and Rosscarbery. The breeding of the hen is from the top winning lines of Luc Vermeerburgen and a hen from Gerald Delaney. Keith also had a good year of racing, as seen previous he won 3rd in the Champion Lofts, this hen played her part in that 3rd place finish. It was a tight finish for the ace young bird as R H Clements also had a strong claim further cementing that he had a fantastic season of racing. It was all down to the head to head to separate the two young birds with K & K coming out on top 4-3, this showed just how competitive it is in the Seven Towers. The result is as follows: 1. K & K Kernohan Harryville – 63 Points (wins 4-3 on head to head), 2. RH Clements Harryville – 63 Points, 3. Surgenor Bros Kells – 58 Points, 4. RH Clements Harryville – 38 Points, 5. G Gibson Cullybackey - 36 Points.

There will be photos and further reports in the coming weeks. Any person who objects to the above info please get in contact with Secretary of Seven Towers Jamie Greer within 14 days, or wishes to know where they finished please get in touch.
