SINCERE CONDOLENCES

It is with heavy heart and sincere sadness that I inform the fancy of the sad passing of one of the sports true gentlemen - Mr Owen Donnelly - Larne & Dist HPS. Owen was a life time in the sport and represented the local fancy as NIPA committee man for many years, and was a past NIPA President and life Vice President. Owen sadly passed away, peacefully, 6th Sept at City Hopital in Belfast. Owen was the dearly loved husband of Nancy and devoted father to Mandy (Burke),Owen and Michelle (Meban) and the late Fiona Kathleen. Sincere Condolences to wife Nancy, Daughters, Son, Sons in law, Grandchildren and extended family circle at home and abroad at this sad time - New Kid On The Block.

Tomorrow will be the last goodbye to a special man and a good friend to my father and me. No big post needed or to go on about how great a person he was, because Owen Donnelly was simply a gentleman, a friend to everyone. He’s what would be referred to in the pigeon world as “old blood” a man with manners, decency and respect for everyone and everything around him! He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Fly high old mate!! Jonathan Baxter.

I got the sad news during a very busy Friday that Owen Donnelly from Larne had passed away in the Belfast City Hospital after a period of illness, an icon of the pigeon sport in the East Antrim area he has been ever present since I became involved in the sport. Very highly respected he served for many years on the NIPA Committee, had a term as President, and then over recent seasons had been installed as a Life Vice President. Larne in County Antrim was his base and he had a Butchers Shop in the town and was Mr Pigeons looking after all aspects of the sport and especially in the Larne & District HPS which was his pride and joy. I had attended the club presentation on many occasions going back many years and was a regular visitor to their Monster Show, Owen always had everything under control and he will be sadly missed. To wife Nancy and the extended family circle sincere condolences at this very sad time, I will always remember my friendship with Owen and his reports from Larne & District. Willie Reynolds HOMER.
