Ian Gibb & Sons (Peter) - It is with profound sadness that I have to inform the fancy of the death of Peter Gibb who sadly passed away on the morning of Monday 30th March 2020. I have been friends with the Gibb Family since moving to Lisburn in 2000. Over that time the Gibb Family have continued to build a modern very successful stud of pigeons assisted by life-long friend Henry Byrne hence (Gibb & Byrne Stud) having over the years lead from the front with their successful award winning Sootjen family of pigeons that bred many winners all over the UK. They haven't failed ever since that adding with renewed winning pigeons and families making them one off the best recognised studs in Ireland. Racing wise Ian and son Peter have worked tirelessly and won endless awards from club rright up to RPRA level, as many fanciers all over the UK and Ireland will know. Having conducted a number of auctions for the father and son team Peter was pigeons through and through, his knowledge base was immense one of the best I came across in my time, scribing and auctioneering. Peter was an absolute gentleman any time I was ever in his company outside or inside the family home, no one who ever had the privilege to come across his warmth and humour would disagree. I'm beyond belief that I'm putting this together for the weeklies on my dad’s request. His brothers Simon to start with enormously will miss his eldest in house brother, Andrew who re-wired everything in my home an excellent electrician at that. Andrew an ardent Rugby player went all over including many parts of the world following Rugby meeting up with Peter many times. Having looked today over Peters Facebook page, everyone is beyond dumbfounded at his sudden death. To his mum Joyce who always enquires on my family in the mornings when visiting the bakery and dad Ian who I will always regard as one of my best, and complete family circle, sincere condolences I could write much more, Peter Rest In Peace and may the good Lord look after the family during this difficult time. Adie.

Don't know where to start...
Ian, Joyce, Simon, Andrew and myself would just like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person for sending their condolences. We have been overwhelmed by the support we are receiving during this unbearable time, the support has been worldwide!! From Australia to Belgium to England to name but a few. The love and support from you all has not gone unnoticed and we are grateful to all.
We cannot put into words how much pain we are all going through right now.
Peter was an amazing son to Ian and Joyce, such a caring and compassionate soul that will not only leave a void in the family home but in their lives. He was also a loving and supportive brother to Andrew and Simon, always there to wind them up but in the next breath move mountains to make sure they were happy. To me Peter wasn't just a brother in law.. He was my brother and he treated me like I was no different to his brothers and I will love and cherish him always. He was a doting and devoted uncle to Effie, Aria, Jaxon and Max who in their words 'loved him to the moon and back again', he lived for these children and would have done anything for them.
Peter will be sadly missed by all of his closest friends to friends of the pigeon world, to friends at the speckled hen and beyond!!
Peter was the meaning of a true gentleman and his kind, caring soul and bubbly, craicing personality and infectious smile will be missed every second of everyday... Until we meet again.

Gibb Peter – It is with great sadness that I received the news of the recent death of our esteemed member Peter. This young man flew with his father Ian as Ian Gibb & Sons and they are a brilliant partnership, racing or breeding winners for other fanciers. He will be very much missed at marking nights. Our condolences, and deepest sympathy, to the Gibb Family.
Roy Benson, Secretary Derriaghy HPS.

Gibb Peter – I was devastated when taking a phone call informing me of the sudden death of Peter at a very early age. Peter was a very knowledgeable fancier and a key part of the ultra successful partnership. Early last year I called at the lofts and spent an hour getting a list of some of the top pigeons they bred for many leading fanciers throughout the UK & Ireland. Ian told Peter to go and select a young bird for Ronnie. Peter came back with a blue hen and said to me she will win for you. First young bird race 2019 and the Gibb hen 1st Club – you were spot on Peter! I just find it hard to believe when I next visit the Gibb Family home Peter will not be there to say hello. Ian and Joyce I would like to send you sincere sympathy from the pigeon fraternity on the sad loss of a precious son. My wife Alice and I will pray for you both and the family circle at this very sad time. Ronnie Johnston Irish Rover.
