The NIPA have reported another very good season and the AGM will be held in Glenavy on Saturday 20th February at 2.00pm, Joe & Mark Brown will be holding their Annual Sale of young birds (complete first round), door open at Noon in the downstairs hall.

Two committee meetings were held either side of Blackpool and a number of items were dealt with in relation to the new season. The NIPA Accounts and Agenda will be available shortly. Two race programmes will be voted on, both similar to the previous year. Doagh & Dist will have a Marking Centre subject to the necessary arrangements and the meeting decided against having joint Press Officers. Slight adjustments are to be made to a few rules and some changes will be made for payment of race crates each week and delivery of the Official NIPA Result by lunchtime on a Sunday (next available day on hold-over). Only Delegates can vote or enter into the business of the annual meeting. I will come back to this when the full details of the meeting are available to all clubs, and cover the Secretarys Annual Report. The cost of the Unikon ETS are to increase, any orders made now will be charged at the old rate. The NIPA this year will be using a new product Loft Care, a safe Eco Friendly and Convenient cleaner, disinfectant and Deodoriser which effectively destroys a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi at viruses at source. Available in Five Litre containers, for all clubs and members.

The RPRA (Irish Region) AGM will be held in the Clarion Hotel, Carrickfergus on Saturday 6th February starting at 1.30pm. Best 200 Miles or Over Winner of Classes 27 & 28 plus Norman Axe Memorial Trophy. Best Opposite Sex 200 Miles or Over Winner of Classes 27 & 28 Plus John Ambler Memorial Trophy which Timmy has won for the third time. It was an overall top performance and the best ever by the Irish at Blackpool. Young Robert Wiggins from the NI Show Racer Society (Ballymoney) won both the Likeliest Cock and Likeliest Hen Show Racer and brought home the Young Fancier Likeliest Show Racer plus the J Fitzpatrick Trophy. Also for the NI Show Racer Society Rouke & Christie had a number of cards and had 1st in the 2009 Hen Un-flown.

Springvale Social The annual prize night for the Ballyclare based Springvale Social was held last weekend at the Five Corners, its not a big distance from my own home but I do believe its the first visit I have made to this venue. It was not a great night with thick fog but regardless a good turn-out by the local members who were made welcome by the new Chairman Robert Scott. Long time Secretary Campbell McGrugan a former Old Bird Derby winner from France had everything in place and Robert said the club were lucky to have such a dedicated and hard working member. Next time I will cover the winners.
