Fourth Combine Win Of The Season For Johnston Eagleson & Sons Of Ballymena & District
The final inland race of the old bird season was flown on Saturday 21st June from Cloughmartin. The Nipa released at 9.45am in south westerly winds. Best in the Mid Antrim Combine for the fourth time this season were Johnston Eagleson & Sons of Ballymena & District who timed their 2yo cheq cock at 12.39pm to record 1677. This good racing cock also topped the Combine last season from a tough Nipa Skibbereen Yearling National.
The sire was a gift cock from Paddy & William McManus of Ahoghill and is Van den Brande x a daughter of Danny Dixon's 'Champion Heartbreaker' and the dam a self bred Hereman Ceuster x a Van Den Bulck granddaughter of Kittel.
Harry Boyd was best in Kells and runner up in the Combine on 1666. Sire Van Wildermeersh and dam bred down from 'Night Rider'. Trevor Whyte was best in Ahoghill on 1660, Harold Cubitt had the Rasharkin winner on 1660 with a yearling Van Den Brande widowhood cock and G Gibson was best in Cullybackey on 1650.
