Mid Antrim Combine - INFC Skibbereen Young Bird National 23/09/25
The final race of the pigeon racing season was held from Skibbereen in County Cork on Tuesday 23rd September. The Irish National Flying Club liberated 1230 birds at 10.30am in light easterly winds. Danny Dixon of Dunloy was best in the Mid Antrim Combine for the sixth time this season and finished 22nd Open National. Danny's winning blue cock was bred by John Boyd of Ballyclare and contains, Hereman Ceuster, Van Den bulck and Stefaan Lambrecht. The Sire is 'Thunder Bolt' and the dam 'Lucinda Brand'.
Gary Gibson of Cullybackey was next best and placed 25th, 31st, 39th & 60th Open National. Gary's first bird a blue pied hen won Cullybackey from the Dunmanway YB National last time out finishing 7th Section. The sire is a son of his golden hen when paired to her grandsire and the dam is a daughter of Danny Dixon's good 2nd Open Fermoy cock of 2018 and full sister to Danny's Tullamore Open winner in 2022. Bertie Blair had the winner in Ballymena & District and his sixth win of the season.
