JOURNEY’S END – NIPA RACE REPORTS – SECTIONS C, D, F, & G
‘BORN LEGACY’ HITS THE MARK FROM THE START
And just like that the quick turnaround from old bird to young bird racing is here. The youngbird
season opener went ahead as scheduled with Sections ABCDE&G going for a mass liberation in
Kilbeggan with Section H liberating on their own from Kilbeggan in Co. Westmeath and Section F
racing from Navan Co. Meath separately. A Total of 193 members of the Mighty NIPA sent a total of
6,002 birds to Kilbeggan and 47 Members from Section F sent 1,405 birds to Navan for the first race
of the NIPA young bird racing calendar. On Saturday the 18 th of July the NIPA liberated Section H first
at 10:15hrs in broken cloud with a light West wind at Kilbeggan. Sections ABCDE&G were then
liberated in Kilbeggan at 10:50hrs in a light West wind. And last but not least the Section F convoy
were liberated at 11:30 in Navan in a light West wind and therefore officially kicking off the 2026
NIPA youngbird season.
The Winning Bird from the first Young Bird Race of the 2026 NIPA Season belongs to Owen Markey
of Ballyholland HPS in Section G.
Owen Markey has yet again emulated his Open Wins in 2026 now winning the first race of the old
bird season and now the first race of the youngbird season while also taking 1 st Open from the last
inland race of the old bird season just a few weeks ago. A flying record that is vastly increasing by the
week winning another NIPA Open. The Kilbeggan 1 st Open winning pigeon has been named ‘Born
Legacy’ and clocked the winning velocity of 1412.150YPM. GB26 B 30710 a blue cock and is a son of
‘Born Identity’ Winner of 1 st Open NIPA 12,963 birds x ‘Sister Moviestar’ a full sister to ‘Moviestar’
winner of 1 st Open NIPA 20,042 birds and dam to ‘Speedstar 203’. 11 th Open is from ‘Turn n Burn’
winner of 1 st Open NIPA 13,199 birds x ‘Juliana’ daughter of Jules Jan Mees and 14 th & 15 th Open are
both grandchildren of ‘Whiplash’ x ‘Sister Moviestar’. Owen would like to congratulate all the

The Winner of Section C (42/1,037) from Kilbeggan was Bingham & Seaton & Dowie of Ligoniel &
District HPS. The Ligoniel partnership has hit the ground running winning their club (211 birds) a
clean sweep in the Section C result taking the first 10 positions (1,037 birds) and these winners
finished 19 th , 21 st , 22 nd , 23 rd , 29 th , 32 nd , 33 rd , 34 th , 58 th , 60 th Open NIPA. (6,002 birds) GB26 X 29016 is a
Mealy Cock and his Dam is Flanders Queen the RPRA young bird of the year in 2024. The sire is out

The first race of the y/b season saw us in Kilbeggan, a tough start for the babies but leading the way
with his first EAA victory is Joe Robinson of Ballycarry HPS. Joe tells me he’s back in the game after a
40 year absence, and loving life in Ballycarry, his winner is from lifelong friend billy Whiteside of
Whiteside a formidable race outfit in the day and still able to mix it with the best! Both father and
mother supplied by billy although the hen is bred by Ciaran McVeigh from his van dyke lines. Father
is Billy’s old lines .

The Winner of Section D (25/709) from Kilbeggan was S&W English of Lisburn & District HPS. Sam &
Willy win 1 st prize in their club (181 birds) the duo also won top spot in Section D (709 birds) their
Section Winner finished in the top half of the open placings winning 35 th Open NIPA (6,002 birds)

McManus & Young from Ahoghill. She was sitting on eggs and was on the darkness.

The Winner of Section F (47/1,405) from Navan was Gordon Bros & Sons of Killyleagh Central HPS.
The Gordons have done a clean sweep from the very get go from Navan taking the first 28 in the
Section F result and a total of 41 out of the top 50 positions in the section result (1,405 birds) The
Gordons Section F Winner BELG26 4170062 is from their Bolt II x Kittel Lines and 2 nd Section is from
Blizzard x Super Vale Dirk 785 the number one breeder of Pierre Beyl. 2nd Section is a grandson of
Liberaal super racer and breeder of Dirk Van Den Bulck. 4 th is a full brother to their super racer
Supersonic Blizzard who won back to back NIPA Opens in 2024 from 18,000 & 15,000 birds.
