For the second race of the old bird season the NIPA were back in Tullamore County Offaly, released again at Mid-day in a West NW wind. It turned out another fantastic race with good returns, an excellent start to the old bird season. The early birds appear to be with B Griffiths in Ards HPS in the Sect F and P & J Boal in Dromore best in Sect D.

For the second race of the old bird season the East Down Combine birds moved on to Tullamore in County Offaly, released at 12.45pm in a helping West NW wind. It looked like a great race with prizes shared equally between both the West & East Section. Overall winner doing velocity 1667 was J Young & Partners from Dundonald, Fanciers of the Year in 2009. Runner-up was B & G Cochrane from the Comber Soc followed by W White & Son Newtownbreda and Paddy Brown from Annsborough who was 1st East Sect.

The race will be flown on Sunday 25th April and will be held in the Edgarstown HPS clubrooms. The open race will be flown from Mullingar, hampering from 7.00am – 9.30am same day. £1 per bird, 20 bird limited. £300 guaranteed prize money, pools optional (spilt 35%, 20%, 15% & 3@10%). The Fanciers Combine are to run an Open Race on the May Day Bank Holiday from Kildare. Ringing will take place in the Edgarstown Clubrooms on the morning of the race 7.30am until 9.30am. Racers £1, Trainers 30p. A £5 Nom with two cuts 60% and 40%. Prize-money pro rata, depending on the entry. Open to all fanciers in All Organizations.
A reminder that the deadline for Irish Nat FC Membership is 28th April, this is now a final date and no applications will be considered after that time. Open to all of Ireland those members in the South Sect can contact either Eugene Fitzgerald or Phil Smith. The programme has seven races, the top highlight the Blue Riband Kings Cup from France on Friday 2nd July.
A helping wind is forecast for this weekend, a massive entry is expected. NIPA are in Roscrea County Tipperary, East Down Combine at Mount Charles, Ulster Federation return to Kildare and Irish SR Federation are in Mallow.
