For race six the NIPA moved on to Fermoy, another fantastic race flown on Saturday 15th May with liberation at 10.30am in a brisk Westerly wind. Best bird locally was timed by Allen McBride who takes 1st Harryville for the fifth week on the trot, his Blue w/f cock was in fact winning for the third time. He scored from Tullamore 2nd Comb and then Clonmel, a full brother has already won twice, what a breeding pair this is. He timed at 2.17pm to record velocity 1550 for the 200 miles into Letercreeve on the Antrim Road in Ballymena. The sire is a son of Spartacus the top Soontjen and the dam was bred from a sister of Champion Strauss paired to a son of Diamonte. The K & K Kernohan team are runner-up for the second week. Harry Boyd was well placed winning 1st Kells (1543), followed by Connor Magill 1st New Antrim (1529) and Harry Smyth & Son 1st & 2nd in Broughshane (1528).

Racing around the hot-bed of East Antrim M & A Pearson from Eastway topped the NIPA last season from Clonmel, the fifth race of the old bird programme and on week 6 in 2010 have the best bird locally from Fermoy and favourite for the NIPA Sect C Diploma. Michael and Anne Pearson race a small team and this latest winner has already been timed twice to win 1st Club & 6th Sect Tullamore and 2nd Club & 3rd Sect Clonmel. They are followed by the ever consistent Whiteside Bros doing 1592 and on the same yard as G & M Atcheson who have their first win of the season in Glengormley HPS. They are just ahead of Bingham & Seaton with two birds, this loft must be having a best ever season racing as well in Ligoniel, and with Shankill in the Ulster Federation. Roy Fenton has the best bird in Larne and Mr & Mrs George Robinson have 1st, 2nd & 3rd in both Carrick Clubs and a fantastic race result. Jimmy Courtney from Muckamore will be well placed again winning 1st Club at 2.03pm with his Sect winner from earlier.
From Fermoy when 40 members of Larne & Dist sent 817 birds local trainer Roy Fenton takes the Red Card on 1589 with a Blue Peter Van der Nueruc cock flying Roundabout. Second goes to L & S O’Neill & sons on 1582 with a Blue widowhood cock off Gary Gibson’s Hartog x Wall Lunt & Green birds. Rab Mills & son take third on 1576 with another Lindelauf bred by K Rooney. A S McNaghten is fourth on 1571 with a full sister to his 3rd Open YB National winner from Skibbereen. This Blue hen racing on Roundabout has a 1st and 2nd Club amongst other prizes to its credit. S & W Gray takes fifth with their good Van Reet cock on 1569, this cock has been in the prizes most weeks this season. Crawford & Robinson take sixth on 1569.

It was another tight finish in the Newry Fed with Ron McKelvey 2nd Open NIPA recently just ahead of Donnelly Bros who had the big result last week from Clonmel and also 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 6th Open NIPA with 26,500 birds competing. The winner from Fermoy for Ron McKelvey was a Blue Cheq hen again raced very lightly as a 3 year old w/hood hen. She is a 1/2 sister to the hen that won 2nd Open a couple of weeks ago. Her sire is a pigeon called the "English Cock" that won the Fed for him when he raced in London and he is full of all the Braspenning top bloodlines. Her dam is a hen called "Marieke" that was purchased in Blackpool from the Wall Lunt & Green sale.

Section Honours Yet Again for Ian Gibb & Sons
The NIPA for the sixth race of the O/Bird programme where in Fermoy, Co.Cork, this the last race prior to the NIPA Inland O/Bird National to be flown from Rosscarbery followed by the INFC Inland National from Skibbereen. I must commend the hard working NIPA Secretary Fred Russell for keeping the results up to date, which is no easy task, when these are received in paper format within one week of any said race being flown they are typed up for inclusion in the results Section of the BHW, each Open result including Sections in all take around 3 hours to type, and do command a large amount of space within the results pages every week to which we would like to thank the Editor and Editorial team for the excellent space supplied for this coverage, also not forgetting the coverage given also by the Racing Pigeon weekly with regards the Results. The NIPA enjoyed excellent racing once again and this surely must be one of the best starts to any racing season in recent years, with as yet not one hold-over or delayed basketing. The NIPA liberated at 10.30am in a brisk West Wind with expectations on the ground that we where in for a quick affair. As we go to press it looks very like the inform loft of 2010 Ian Gibb & Sons flying with the Derriaghy HPS are going to collect Section D Honours for the second time this season, with this their sixth consecutive success in the Derriaghy Club, it was a smashing weekend for the loft as they also top the Glenavy & District HPS for good measure. The Gibb lofts sited on the Old Park Road area of Lisburn are home to the massive and acclaimed Gibb & Byrne Stud, with the vast array of lofts easily seen from the surrounding roads. A great land mark for the pigeons to spot but they have to navigate around large electricity wires which surround all area’s of the garden making life a little more difficult and training a complete nightmare, especially at this time of the year when training youngsters also, numbers have to reduced when letting any of them out to exercise, the loft timed this week to record 1st Club Derriaghy and 1st Section D NIPA as well as a top twenty Open position a Blue Cheq cock who was just re-paired up on Wednesday evening. He is a Van Dyck/Koopman this one being a G/Son of the world famous ‘Tips’. He was recorded at 13.55pm flying 185 miles following a couple of laps of the loft. Just to mention he has been re-paired to the hen that he took to at the start of the year it happens to be the Mealy hen that finished 30th Open last year in the Penzance Y/Bird National for the loft, on a velocity of 834ypm, when only 155 birds made it home in race time. The hen is being pre-paired for a race coming up, and has been repaired for this purpose, just happened to kick the cock into action, although he has been knocking on the door when competing this year having been the Gibb Lofts third bird timed in the Glenavy Club last week. 2nd pigeon timed by the loft at 13.58pm was also racing with Derriaghy HPS this being the super Blue Cheq Yearling Cock who has now scored 5 x 2nd and a club first to his name to date, finishing twice second Club and a youngster and now 3 times 2nd this year including winning the Club a fortnight ago. He is the best of the Vink lines at the Gibb & Byrne Stud. Excellent racing by the inform loft within Lisburn currently.

Racing around the hot-bed of East Antrim M & A Pearson from Eastway topped the NIPA last season from Clonmel, the fifth race of the old bird programme and on week 6 in 2010 have the best bird locally from Fermoy and favourite for the NIPA Sect C Diploma. Michael and Anne Pearson race a small team and this latest winner has already been timed twice to win 1st Club & 6th Sect Tullamore and 2nd Club & 3rd Sect Clonmel. They are followed by the ever consistent Whiteside Bros doing 1592 and on the same yard as G & M Atcheson who have their first win of the season in Glengormley HPS. They are just ahead of Bingham & Seaton with two birds, this loft must be having a best ever season racing as well in Ligoniel, and with Shankill in the Ulster Federation. Roy Fenton has the best bird in Larne and Mr & Mrs George Robinson have 1st, 2nd & 3rd in both Carrick Clubs and a fantastic race result. Jimmy Courtney from Muckamore will be well placed again winning 1st Club at 2.03pm with his Sect winner from earlier.
From Fermoy when 40 members of Larne & Dist sent 817 birds local trainer Roy Fenton takes the Red Card on 1589 with a Blue Peter Van der Nueruc cock flying Roundabout. Second goes to L & S O’Neill & sons on 1582 with a Blue widowhood cock off Gary Gibson’s Hartog x Wall Lunt & Green birds. Rab Mills & son take third on 1576 with another Lindelauf bred by K Rooney. A S McNaghten is fourth on 1571 with a full sister to his 3rd Open YB National winner from Skibbereen. This Blue hen racing on Roundabout has a 1st and 2nd Club amongst other prizes to its credit. S & W Gray takes fifth with their good Van Reet cock on 1569, this cock has been in the prizes most weeks this season. Crawford & Robinson take sixth on 1569.

It was another tight finish in the Newry Fed with Ron McKelvey 2nd Open NIPA recently just ahead of Donnelly Bros who had the big result last week from Clonmel and also 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 6th Open NIPA with 26,500 birds competing. The winner from Fermoy for Ron McKelvey was a Blue Cheq hen again raced very lightly as a 3 year old w/hood hen. She is a 1/2 sister to the hen that won 2nd Open a couple of weeks ago. Her sire is a pigeon called the "English Cock" that won the Fed for him when he raced in London and he is full of all the Braspenning top bloodlines. Her dam is a hen called "Marieke" that was purchased in Blackpool from the Wall Lunt & Green sale.

Section Honours Yet Again for Ian Gibb & Sons
The NIPA for the sixth race of the O/Bird programme where in Fermoy, Co.Cork, this the last race prior to the NIPA Inland O/Bird National to be flown from Rosscarbery followed by the INFC Inland National from Skibbereen. I must commend the hard working NIPA Secretary Fred Russell for keeping the results up to date, which is no easy task, when these are received in paper format within one week of any said race being flown they are typed up for inclusion in the results Section of the BHW, each Open result including Sections in all take around 3 hours to type, and do command a large amount of space within the results pages every week to which we would like to thank the Editor and Editorial team for the excellent space supplied for this coverage, also not forgetting the coverage given also by the Racing Pigeon weekly with regards the Results. The NIPA enjoyed excellent racing once again and this surely must be one of the best starts to any racing season in recent years, with as yet not one hold-over or delayed basketing. The NIPA liberated at 10.30am in a brisk West Wind with expectations on the ground that we where in for a quick affair. As we go to press it looks very like the inform loft of 2010 Ian Gibb & Sons flying with the Derriaghy HPS are going to collect Section D Honours for the second time this season, with this their sixth consecutive success in the Derriaghy Club, it was a smashing weekend for the loft as they also top the Glenavy & District HPS for good measure. The Gibb lofts sited on the Old Park Road area of Lisburn are home to the massive and acclaimed Gibb & Byrne Stud, with the vast array of lofts easily seen from the surrounding roads. A great land mark for the pigeons to spot but they have to navigate around large electricity wires which surround all area’s of the garden making life a little more difficult and training a complete nightmare, especially at this time of the year when training youngsters also, numbers have to reduced when letting any of them out to exercise, the loft timed this week to record 1st Club Derriaghy and 1st Section D NIPA as well as a top twenty Open position a Blue Cheq cock who was just re-paired up on Wednesday evening. He is a Van Dyck/Koopman this one being a G/Son of the world famous ‘Tips’. He was recorded at 13.55pm flying 185 miles following a couple of laps of the loft. Just to mention he has been re-paired to the hen that he took to at the start of the year it happens to be the Mealy hen that finished 30th Open last year in the Penzance Y/Bird National for the loft, on a velocity of 834ypm, when only 155 birds made it home in race time. The hen is being pre-paired for a race coming up, and has been repaired for this purpose, just happened to kick the cock into action, although he has been knocking on the door when competing this year having been the Gibb Lofts third bird timed in the Glenavy Club last week. 2nd pigeon timed by the loft at 13.58pm was also racing with Derriaghy HPS this being the super Blue Cheq Yearling Cock who has now scored 5 x 2nd and a club first to his name to date, finishing twice second Club and a youngster and now 3 times 2nd this year including winning the Club a fortnight ago. He is the best of the Vink lines at the Gibb & Byrne Stud. Excellent racing by the inform loft within Lisburn currently.
