When you read this column the first race of the National programme will have been flown from Skibbereen. The 2009 winner was Cromie & Magee of Ballynahinch. This race is also first leg of the Charles Hunniford Challenge Trophy and in the last two years the eventual winner was in the top ten of the Open result.
