The INFC Friendship was flown from St Malo (France) on Thursday 8th July, the convoy was released one day early due to terrible weather conditions forecast for the Friday. Liberation was at 8.45am wind Lt SE to be SSW en-route and strengthen. A good entry of 881 birds, were sent by 244 members and competing for £5,586 in pools and prizes. Some 14 gallant arrivals were recorded on the day and the leading birds were timed in the South Sect. Overall winners were N & C Shields of the Skerries doing velocity 1160 for the 391 miles. Runner-up was Phil Smith & Son Stillorgan followed by the former Kings Cup winner Joe Doheny Malahide & Dist and Noel Grant & Sons Balbriggan. Best in the North Sect were Donnelly Bros from Newry City, the former winners finished 5th & 9th Open and win the 2 Bird Average.

Ulster Federation started the young birds last Sunday with a race from Navan, D Gorman & Son of Fortfield were best reported doing velocity 1578. The Ulster Federation are back in Navan this weekend and East Down Combine start at the same point. NIPA are looking at a Saturday morning release in Tullamore, having cancelled the previous weeks training toss from Mullingar. Two liberations as per the Race Booklet Sect B, C, Top A & H together and the other Sect D, E, F, G, & Bottom A together. Forecast is reasonable for Sat morning with South wind.
