The town of Lisburn has been considered for many years to be an impossible area to win a 20,000 plus birdage. NIPA Inland Open race. Ian Gibb and son Peter flying with the strong and competitive Glenavy HPS completed what was considered for years an impossibility by topping the NIPA Open from Roscrea two weeks ago with just over 27,000 pigeons competing on a day when conditions where surely unfavourable for an easterly lying loft in a north west wind. But the Gibb boys partners in the highly regarded Gibb and Byrne stud can regard that performance as truly amazing. What can be even more amazing is that they look to be big NIPA Open contenders this week again from Fermoy this time truly outstanding racing and again in a wind that surely wasn't favourable. The Gibb boys timed a Blue Cock named The Blacksmith he was sent on 14 day old eggs and was some six minutes clear of the next arrivials for Ian and Peter they still managed to put nine birds in the first ten of the club result and could easily have clocked far more a loft truly in fine form and making history in the town of Lisburn. The potential Open winner this week for Ian and Peter what could be their second NIPA Open success in three weeks was a Blue Cock he is a G/son of De Kees, Golden Ace who was the Ace Pigeon of 2007 at the Europa Classic a year that Gibb & Byrne won the event on the other side he is a grandson of Picaso of Van Dyck when paired to Racilis of Koopman. The dam of this potential Open winner is a pigeon the Gibbs call Maya she already is Dam to 1st Section D and 15th Open Fermoy 26,159 birds this year also at that time mated to a son of Tips. The will be the fourth 1st Section D win for the Gibb boys this year, the only loft in Section D to have won four at this stage in 2010.
INFC – Just an early reminder that members must claim for the various awards for racing performance in the 2010 season, see the Award Claim Form included in the Entry Forms Booklet. Some Hall of Fame, Triple Crown performances have already been covered please give some attention to the Framed Certificate awarded for birds placed twice in the Kings Cup and birds placed twice in the Friendship Nat (From France) and which started in 2006 season. No decision has yet been taken regarding the presentation of the various Framed Certificates, something different I believe is being arranged. Just watch the press but in the meantime return all claims to the Secretary Trevor Topping.
North Coast Classic – 5th Hotspot Thurles.
