INFC Gold Medal – One of the most coveted awards within the INFC is the Gold Medal awarded to any pigeon four times an Open Prize-winner from the Kings Cup Grand National. Over a period of some 30 years only 13 have been won and in 2013 another one can be added to the total. John Greenaway of Bondhill is the fancier that wins a Gold Medal in 2013 with the 5yo Blue cock “Iron Man”. The Kings Cup has an Open Prize-list of 250 positions. John won the Hall of Fame with this bird last year and previously with his good Blue hen “Champion Iron Lady”.
The second Old Bird National is known as the Friendship Nat and flown in 2013 from Quimper. The INFC have added a Silver Medal to its award list and to win this medal a pigeon must be fout times an Open Prize-winner from the Friendship National. This season the Silver Medal has been won for the first time by Paul Dunlop of Edgarstown with his 5yo Blue Chequer hen known as “The Wee Hen”. Her Friendship National record is: 2010 – 51st Open INFC St Malo 244/881, 2011 – 11th Open INFC St Malo 278/1046, 2012 – 11th Open INFC Quimper 227/816, 2013 – 30th Open INFC Quimper 271/1108.
