Pigeon Network 10th Birthday Celebrations ***WHO WILL IT BE? Simple Question it may seem, but after one of the most open and spread out pigeon seasons success wise I have seen in a number of years with a shared balance of success spread throughout the country, and with a result of 3 2 last year between two fanciers the judging, for this years event to find the Northern Ireland Fancier of the Year could prove to be the most difficult to date. For so many years it has more times than not been a land slide in one direction or another, last year proved to be very close, with Ronnie Williamson outshining Donnelly Bros of Newry to lift the crown for a record amount of times. The Panel of five has been the same for the last number of years and I have every confidence they will once again select the leading loft for 2009, from a number of applications which we expect to have by post no later than Friday 23rd of October 2009, all applications must be received in writing and posted to Willie Reynolds, 47 Staffa Drive, Ballymena, County Antrim. BT42 4EH, any loft from any organisation can make a claim which makes the winning of this much sought after award all that more prestigious the award also takes into consideration both your main organisation racing results and the INFC results obtained by your loft. The winner will be announced as usual at the Annual Pigeonnetwork.com Quiz Night of the Year which is planned this year for Friday 6th of November starting at 7.30pm and once again at the Ballyclare Comrades Football Club, in Ballyclare. Tickets for the event are priced once again at £5 which includes a buffet. Tickets as normal are expected to go well among or loyal supporters, with Mr Bill Cowell (Bilco) and RPRA Committee man Fred Bloor just to name a couple of our panellists from out first event which gathered so much media attention in some quarters making a welcome return once again this year the ever consistent Ronnie Johnston with a mind of information and stats has once again agreed to be Compere for the event. 2009 is in fact the 10th Anniversary for www.pigeonnetwork.com a site established all those years ago when pigeon men using computers was somewhat scarcer than it is now. During that time the site has went from strength to strength and is now owned out right by Adie McCormick a local scribe who has contributed greatly to the pigeon scene as far as scribing goes over the last number of years. Ray Delaney in Texas, USA past owner remains at the helm in regards to web design and layout and the website now boasts some 200 Clubs from across Ireland who list their Club results within hours of any said race finishing, this allows Adie and Homer and the team to publish these said results within days of the race being completed, the site also has a number of top contributors who add weekly articles to the site making it one of the most visited just not in Ireland but around the world. The Cornish Connection Cup will also be presented on the evening of the pigeonnetwork.com Quiz Night this is presented to the lowest winning velocity by a Northern Ireland loft from Cornwall, looking over the results tonight one that will be hard to beat is that of Greg Bros & McCandless of Ligoniel who topped the INFC Open from the Old Hens National. Also to be presented will be the Irelands Own Pigeon Auctions sponsored Mid Antrim Combine Champions League Diploma. A Cracking night in store and one that will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of pigeonnetwork.com and of course see the 2009 Northern Ireland Fancier of the Year announced.

Grand Phone-In-Squeaker Auction ***LONDON & SOUTH EAST CLASSIC CLUB GRAND PHONE-IN-SQUEAKER AUCTION SALE The President and Committee of the L&SECC are very proud to present this our third ever Grand Phone-In Squeaker Auction Sale in aid of our newly formed transporter fund. Although we have a good ageing working vehicle, at the moment, the committee have been looking too the future of our Classic Club and realise that in a few seasons time it will need replacing. Pigeon Transporters are not cheap equipment to purchase these days and the Committee feel now is the time to start building a fund, with the view to purchasing our new vehicle when needed. Newsletter Jan 2009 ***Newsletter January 2009 Hi All The latest Newsletter will soon be delivered to all members, firstly Happy New Year and may you all have the success you are looking for. After a few years of scribing and many months In the Spotlight and giving consideration to everything that is going on Adie has decided to step aside from the Front Line and will be Spending More time with his Family. Pigeons are some distance down the priority list. He will not be keeping or racing pigeons, will not be a member of any club or organisation, and will not pen a weekly news column. When loose ends have been tied up there will be other changes. For what was a breath of fresh air for the sport in Ireland Adie has decided that he is not the person to promote the Sport/Hobby and will leave that to people that are better qualified. Over many months this has become more evident, there simply are better things to be employed at. What all the changes will mean will be explained as we proceed into the New Year. Homer.

Kings Cup Vannes birds coming home ***The INFC Management Committee have this morning Sunday 6th of July decided to bring the Kings Cup pigeons back to Ireland at the earliest possible opportunity. The convoy will be liberated in Rosslare, County Wexford area, weather permitting ASAP after their return, possibly Tuesday. This decision was based on the report from the Convoyer Jim McCrory who has a vast amount of experience and the problems with the weather over the route. It was also the decision by the overwhelming majority of Committee Members present that in the interests of the Kings Cup race, that they should work towards facilitating a substitute Kings Cup race from St Malo towards the end of July, start of August 2008. As with regards this weeks impending ring marking for the Friendship National (Tuesday), it was also agreed that Lib Line would be updated daily with information as to when a liberation in France would be possible, and the subsequent ring marking taking place. NIPA – Rosscarbery Liberation ***Rosscarberry OB Inland National – On Sat 17th May conditions in Rosscarbery were not favourable for a liberation and the convoyer who has the final say on whether or not to release the birds decided not to liberate. On Sun 18th conditions at Rosscarbery were quite good but unfortunately conditions in the Galtees were very poor with rain, poor visibility, and very cold and again a liberation was not possible. Monday 19th conditions were perfect and the birds were liberated at 9.15am in a South Easterly wind and it would by all reports appear to have been a good race. Congratulations to all the winners. Those who are saying that the birds should have been liberated on Saturday or on Sunday do not have the full picture, and would not appear to have the interest of the pigeons at heart. The pigeons were not held on Saturday because of drug testing or wing stamping, there were no pigeons drug tested. One Nat Centre was completely wing stamped in Dromore on Thursday evening before the birds left for Rosscarbery. I hope this dispels any rumours that are circulating within the pigeon fraternity and I would like to thank everyone for bearing with us during a very difficult weekend. The convoyer should be thanked for the condition in which the pigeons returned to their respective lofts, also the race controller and everyone who helped in any way. Weather forecast for this incoming weekend looks satisfactory for the Saturday liberation from Pilmore Beach. Please remember collection times are one hour earlier than usual. Fred Russell NIPA Secretary. PS. With a Bank Holiday weekend all results should be posted ASAP, to assist with an early result publication. Homer.

USER/VISITOR NOTICE – Service Interuption ***Our Web Hosting Company are moving to Dallas in Texas. How this impacts you What this means to you is that due to the fact all Infuseweb equipment must be shut down, disassembled, transported, reassembled, and reconfigured at the new location there will be an extended period of down time during the move. We estimate, realistically, at least one full day of down time, and possibly several more days to return to 100% normal as hiccups at the new location are cleared up. We realize this is very critical to you and will do everything we can to ensure services are restored as quickly as possible. Also, in an effort to reduce a total outage, we plan to move the mail server and a DNS server ahead of time so your e-mail will still continue to work during the bulk of the move. When will this happen? Here is the planned schedule of events: Saturday, June 21, 2008, 6 PM until 4 AM Central Time: E-mail services and NS2 will be down as this equipment is moved to the new data center. Saturday, June 28, 2008, 9 AM until 9 AM, Sunday, June 29: All Helm, Reseller Hosting, Hosted Web Sites, Databases, Stats, FTP, VPS, and remaining services will be down as we tear down, transport, reassemble, and reconfigure all servers at the new location. MID ANTRIM COMBINE – News Update ***Most clubs were represented at the recent AGM of the Mid Antrim Combine held in the Harryville HPS clubrooms in Ballymena. Chairman Robert Service welcomed the delegates and asked Secretary George McDowell to read the minutes of the previous AGM. These were adopted as a true record and the meeting proceeded to discuss the accounts. The increase in the membership fee of last year rising from £1.50 up to £2.00 gave the MAC an income of £316 and there was very little difference in expenditure the most costly item being the Diplomas costing £243. The sum of £205 remains in the Current Account and no increase in any fees is required for the new season. With no correspondence and no other business arising from 2006 the offices were declared vacant. Officials at the top table were duly returned to office with Chairman Robert Service (Harryville HPS), and Secretary George McDowell (Kells & District HPS) in charge for 2008 season. A proposal was put forward and agreed to run a Mid Antrim League/Knock-Out competition where each member club would nominate four lofts to take part. The idea put forward by James Harris from Ballymena & Dist HPS as he has kindly agreed to do the admin is for a Champions League type competition. Full details are with each member club, the final would be flown from Sennen Cove and PigeonNetwork.com will sponsor the winning Diploma. The MAC are now registered at the RPRA and as such the members will be able to submit claims for the various awards, ie. 0-250 Miles, 251-450 Miles, Over 450 Miles and Individual Bird etc. Claim forms are available from the Irish Region Secretary Robert Reid. Robert Service hoped that the members would support his YB Sale coming up raising funds for the new work units adjacent to Harryville HPS Clubrooms.

DUNDONALD 3 BIRD CHALLENGE – Skibb North O/B 2008 ***DUNDONALD 3B Challenge Race – Friday evening seen the organizers and sponsors of the Dundonald HPS 3 Bird Challenge meeting up to present their respective sponsorship awards to the organizers. This excellent race will be run in conjunction with the Irish National Flying Clubs Skibbereen North O/B National (North Section). Simply its a matter of selecting three pigeons and informing either Len McKinstry or Brian Foulis before the 30th of April, price is £150 for the three nominations. All pigeons nominated will be displayed on www.pigeonnetwork.com and www.pigeonportal.com for all to see. Interest is very high and the organizers are expecting a winning pay-out of £5,000 for the winner, an excellent idea I might add and one that is sure to gather momentum as the April deadline approaches, not many races can offer a winners pay-out of this magnitude and even with 100 fanciers taking up the challenge already there is a pool of £15,000 and remember only 300 pigeons to compete against. Again a great idea and should it turn out a success the organizers are already making plans for the Y/B season to run something similar. An excellent Glass Trophy was presented to the organizers by Ian and Peter Gibb representing the Gibb & Byrne partnership with a Bricon ETS system donated to the organizers for the Best Two Bird Average by All Ireland Agent Adie McCormick. For entry forms contact either Len McKinstry, 9 Brooklands Gardens Dundonald or Brian Foulis at 1 Ardcarn Park Dundonald.

ETS Pads Update ***Steve/Lee Grateful if this notice could be placed in publications Peter ETS PADS There appears to be much confusion at present on the subject of the number of ETS pads that can be used at a loft. To clarify the situation, the new Rule 241 passed at the AGM stated that only 3 entry pads to be allowed per system. RPRA Council however is aware that there is a debate about what constitutes a pad and what is an antennae and so at the forthcoming Council meeting clarification will be made on this subject. Members considering purchasing ETS are advised not to make any hasty decisions on which system to purchase.
