GRAND FINAL – EMERALD CLASSIC
The 381 birds competing for a first prize of £8,000.00 in this year's Grand Final were liberated on Sunday 11th September in Rosscarbery County Cork at 9.00am. The weather conditions at the liberation site were near perfect with sunshine coming through the broken cloud and a very light southerly wind. We are again deeply indebted to Alan Darragh our race controller for supervising this morning's liberation - showers are expected en route however a fast race is expected. The 4th Grand Final was the fastest yet with the winning birds returning to the lofts in Ballyclare at 12.35pm two birds together and a winner for the local ace Danny Dixon from Dunloy in County Antrim followed by Corn Direct (Dublin), Conor Whelan finished 2nd, 3rd & 17th and collected the Lakeside Cup for the Best 2 Bird Average. The winner for Danny Dixon was bred by himself from birds sourced locally, he obtained the very best bloodlines from Alan Darragh (Cullybackey) and Martin Graham (Ballymena & Dist). This is the second time Martin has been involved with a winner in the One Loft races having bred the Galway winner for Adie McCormick, Champion “Cool Lass”. A full race report will follow.
