Post by willie reynolds »

19th April update

The doors will soon close for entries for this years North Coast Classic one loft race. If you want to participate then the time is now to ensure your birds are with us in time. If you require any further advice please get in touch.

Official countdown to the last day we will accept entries for this years event. APRIL 30th 2012

Regards NCC.

18th April update

The weather around the lofts has been very erratic with blustery winter showers and high winds, not ideal pigeon weather. But we try and get out different sections every day until they find there wings and then they will be all out together.

The reasoning different sections are out on alternate days is to give youngsters that are only finding their wings a chance to get accustomed to the surroundings of their new home.

We have had more birds arrive at the lofts with a team from H & R McCloy and also Reid Bros & H McCloy.

We have had fanciers ringing up looking to book spaces all we can say is the loft is nearing capacity and we might have to close sooner than anticipated which is something that we are privileged to say as this alone speaks volumes in the trust which is bestowed on the NCC by you the fancier.

We are working tirelessly behind the scenes with the daily husbandry and welfare of the birds which is expected naturally and all is going along nicely with very few problems. You are all more than welcome to ring or come to the lofts if you want to know how your entries are coming along or just for a cup of coffee and a chat.

Please ensure you have your entries in the loft by the 30th April. Yours in sport NCC

17th April Important information update

The loft is getting very close to maximum capacity so I would urge anyone wanting to participate in this years one loft race to send your birds. We will close the doors for entry on the last day of April. Please ensure your birds are with us in time.

If you need any further information or advice please get in contact with us. Many Thanks NCC

15th April update
Well Folk's,

Its been beautiful here in the North West this week and the youngsters have been out and about on a daily bases. We are nearing our loft capacity and we are reminding everyone that has their spaces booked that the loft will be closing on the 30th April and nothing will be accepted after this date.

Anyone that hasn't got their entries in on time can take advantage of the superb kits of ventures that would grace anyone's loft.
This year the NCC has had tremendous response from fanciers and this can be seen in the loft entries.

We done a quick check last night on birds already entered and the ones that have been payed for and to come in yet and we had an approximate head count of 612 birds. This is fantastic news as we love to see the sections filled.

On Friday morning Sean left Coleraine at 05:30 to Armagh to collect birds from Wall Bro's + Curtain Bro's.
Later in the day Sean met up with Hennie Kallymere and pick up the remainder of his entries. They had a nice long chat and Hennie told Sean that he was very impressed with the NCC and the quickness the winners received their winnings. He also hopes to have his father fly over from Africa for the Final Race. Hennie, on behalf of the NCC we would like to thank you for your generous compliments.

It was then off to Larne to meet Big Eddie Gilliland who has had success in the NCC winning one of the Hotspots and Big Eddie has entered a lovely team for this season.

Stevie Gray and his father came to the loft with their other entry and on Saturday night Stephen Bell landed with a cracking team of 6 youngsters that I personally handled and jagged with Sean and they we're superbly bred and a credit to the fancier.

Big Gary Tomilson called over to the NCC on easter Tuesday from England with the rest of his final entries and we had a nice chat and Gary is always available for help when asked.

The first race of the Nipa was flown yesterday from Tullamore and the NCC would like to congratulate Jimmy Hanson and Billy Harpur on winning the Big Coleraine Premier with a yearling widowhood cock taking all Pools and DTW. The winning pigeon has now won three races for the partnership and was last seasons Champion young bird in the club. The partnership took the first four in the club also. Well done lads, supper flying. Regards NCC

10th April update

The past week at the loft the weather has been terrible to fly pigeons and on sunday they had their liberty to exercise around the area and enjoy the occasional rays of sunshine. The youngsters are now truly on the darkness system and the change in the early entries is immense. We have been inundated with new arrivals on a daily basis with saturday in particular being extremely busy.

It was good to welcome back the Two Baldy syndicate with their team of six.

Also we had last seasons Gold Medal winner Liam Hayes return with his team of six all the way from Shannon for a round trip of 10 hours. We had a nice wee chat over a cuppa and Liam hopes to retain the title for the 2 bird again this year and win another Gold Medal which again is sponsored by Big Gary Tomilson which is much appreciated.

It was then the turn of Willie Neil and sons with an entry of 10 youngsters and these looked the part. Willie was accompanied to the lofts with Paul Larkin who raced a good pigeon in his days and is now loft helper for Willie.

The Mid Ulster lofts just kept continuing to arrive in the form of C+H Beattie and Reggie Thompson with their team of six flying under the banner of Team Spirit.

F Jamieson from Scotland sent over a Team of 12 and we would like to warmly welcome you to the 2012 NCC for the first time. Stevie Gray also entered a team of 3 and local man Denis Gregg bought 4 of the ventures.

Respected fancier and good friend to the NCC Sammy Thompson entered his birds and we welcome Sammy again to the NCC along with Mr Promises syndicate with their team of 6.

Trevor Hughes from Wales who has had great success here in the NCC has again sent over a team of 6 flying the banner for the Sons of Glyndwr team.

Great to have Trevor and the guys on board and we also look forward to Trevor and his beautiful lady coming over to these shores for the Final Race and they join us always at the dinner dance and prize night.

This weekend sees the start of racing for all the Nipa members and we hope everyone associated with entries in the NCC has successful racing for 2012. Rumour has it that Jimmy Hanson is the clear favourite to take out the Big Coleraine Premier this week in the opening race.

Regards NCC

6th April update

All the youngsters at the lofts are doing very well and we are well and truly impressed with how things are moving presently at the loft. Health wise everything has been 100% with only a few having to be dipped into the drinker for a drink.

Birds continue to arrive and you can view who is already entered in the ring list column. As the saying goes if your not in you can't win.

We have some cracking ventures this year were they can be viewed in the venture column. If you have any questions do not hesitate to call the Ncc were we will try and answer all questions.

Regards NCC

1st April update

What a difference a week makes.

The temperature change here in the north west has nearly halved from having glorious blue sky and sunshine to cold and muggy days.
You can see the difference this affect in climate control has on the class of 2012.

The bigger youngsters certainly know the landscape now as you watch them frequently cover the sky line as they learn the area.
The later teams are venturing out and flipping madly around the loft.

To date we have had one fatality to the wires across the field and the owners have been contacted.
Hopefully this is the only one!

We have had more entries come to the loft and we had entries from last seasons team of D+P Harvey and I heard their entries were first class!

Also arriving at the lofts was Richard Bothwell who we are glad to welcome on board.
P Elliot+sons with an entry along with Ivan McCann, L+R Barr with 6,Peter Lucas back again with his 6 entries and Beaumont Lofts which were met off the train with Alan Dumbrell and entries from Eugene Fitzgerald.

It was a pleasure to welcome on board, traveling all the way over from Glasgow Martin Hughes with his two entries along with his good friend Jackie McGee from Lisburn who we all know can race a good pigeon.
Martin was telling us all over a coffee that he came here through Jackie whom we would like to thank for his honest words.
Let's hope the weather picks up for the first race in 2 weeks with the Nipa.

30th March update

Hi All,

The youngsters are now starting to batch up when out and around the lofts with the later ones still learning what their wings are for.

At present things are ticking over very nicely.

It was nice to have a nice chat with Homer and his wife when they called in for a wee chat over a cup of coffee.

Homer is a wealth of knowledge in the pigeon scene and has been serving the fancy for as long as I can remember.

We all at the NCC hope you enjoyed your time here on the North Coast.

We have been going very well with entries to date and are constantly receiving entries every day and also Sean traveling all over into the small hours picking up youngsters when the rest of us are in bed.

We also had a visit from past NCC winner John Hall with his three entries along with the seven ventures he has sent to compete in the 2012 series and they are real smashers which will certainly sell quick if viewed.

We also welcome back Dave Brown who won a Hot Spot last season with his team of six.

The Real Mc Coy Syndicate have a Team of six also along with the Workwright team.

Good to welcome back Jim Curry with his two entries along with Mr and Mrs Kinder from Darlington and the LOL Syndicate of Martin O Donnell!

The Dam busters have one of the Luc Cueleman Ventures which have been selling very well.

Also two entries from the crack loft of Benson Brothers.

In a more personnel note I would like to thank two of the NCC team for the help in moving and erecting the loft for my son, you know who you are, also to Willie for supplying the tiles for the new loft.

At present we are going to get some video clips of the youngsters and the lofts and surrounding area.

Kind Regards
NCC

29th March update

The NCC is continuing to see entries arrive on a daily basis and the team are overwhelmed with the response we have had this year.

It truly is fantastic to see the birds arrive at the lofts and see the sections filling up from being empty.

This years ventures are being added to our venture page of the web site and the 're literally flying out very quickly as you will see,

Please get in contact with us to reserve and purchase your venture birds for 2012, it goes without saying that Sean has picked some fantastic birds and they are expected to do very well indeed.

We will continue to give you the latest from the lofts over the next few days and will give you a more in depth update very soon.

Regards
NCC

26th March Evening update

Today at the loft the earlier youngsters had their liberty in the early morning sunshine
and were soon up and away and forming a big batch.

You could watch them head away out along the horizon and rake the country side.

Then they would disappear from view and some minutes would pass before they would be seen again.

We all cannot wait to get everything out and flying well.

Today was all about Ets rings being placed on all the new introductions and assigned to the system.

We had help from Dominic, Jimmy and Terence and we had the help of Gary watching over the youngsters once they had
finished their early morning run out.

A good few of the Luc Cuelemans have been sold today so guys act quick if your interested.

26th March update

The NCC Team where in attendance at the Spring Fayre in what is becoming an annual event in the pigeon calender.

A good crowd continued to pack in and around the trade stands throughout the day topping up on products and buying some of the many youngsters that were for sale.

Sean had a tremendous day at the fayre with a lot of fanciers coming forward and expressing the great coverage the NCC is doing on its web site with up to date news and also the way the fanciers are being made most welcome with the kind hospitality laid on when visitors call at the lofts.

All these many kind words are what its all about, seeing many happy fanciers return year after year.

We had 32 entries being brought to the trade stand which is just brilliant news and we would just like to thank you all for entering this years "in what can only be described as the best NCC One Loft Race" to date entry wise.

After the show was finished and we said our farewells to everyone it was off then to pick up the Venture entries from the CRACK loft of Kevin Rooney and son.

The quality of birds this loft houses is absolutely outstanding and I hope we can see big things develop with these fine well bred venture youngsters.

If looks count for anything then I'm sure we will be writing about these at a later date.

At the lofts we have a lot of youngsters coming to the NCC so it will be busy for the team ongoing now.

23rd March Update

Hi every one,
All this week at the lofts entries have been pouring into the NCC.
This is fantastic to see and only yesterday we took in over 50 entries.

We really want to let every one know that the loft capacity could be met very quickly and we will go to a maximum of 650 birds as space permits.

We would just like to remind every one that we will really try our best to cater for every single entry but space is definitely filling up at an alarming rate and we do want to let every one know that THIS IS NOT A SCARE MONGARING TACKTIC.

It looks as if the target will be SMASHED and we do not want to let any one down especially the die hard's that have supported us from the start but as you all know I do take into account the welfare of the birds first and will not JAM PACK into the sections just to make extra money.

We at the NCC Loft take the youngsters health and well being first at all times.

So Guys please take this request seriously I do not want to let clients down, we really our going to break our target which is Fantastic news for the loft and all competitors as this year we really have some fantastic entries which should make competition very fierce to win not just one of the Hot Spots but also the Final Race were the first prize is a guaranteed £12000.

We hope to get a live stream up running soon so please stay tuned to the web site.

All youngsters at the lofts are thriving and every day that goes by you always see a young bird that catches your eye.

At the lofts this week the young birds have been getting their required treatments with everyone that enters the loft entering first of all into the quarantine sections after being given the required vaccination wing stamp and ETS ring number allocated before moving on and mixing with the other youngsters.

Touch wood we have not encountered any problems thus far, but all you fanciers now that you must stay on top of everything so nothing at the lofts our taken for granted.

Soon we will be getting the photos taken of all the ventures and placed on the web site for all to view and buy.

We hope to see you all at the Spring Fayre on Saturday and any questions you have feel free to come over and have a chat.

25th April update

Well guys, loft for 2012 has now closed earlier than anticipated due to the over whelming support for this years event which has a guaranteed 1st prize of £12000 to the lucky winner.

Don’t dismay if you never got in on time as we have some cracking venture pigeons which can be bought at any time.
We now have all our ventures in and some of the family’s are selling very quickly so my advice to you is the sooner your in the better chance you have of winning.

Presently around the loft the youngsters are starting to exercise on a daily basis with different sections being let out at different times until everything has settled to the area and once so, they will go out in one big group and start ant enter through the main trap and we will switch on the ets system and get a proper head count and this also will let you all know how many of your entries are still at the lofts.

We are presently looking at a new web cam and hope to get this up and running along with the videos that were promised.

We are overwhelmed with phone calls daily with the praise which is very much appreciated.
Some fanciers were disappointed on Sunday as we had to turn away over 70 entries which we just couldn't cater for but these guys said they will be in earlier next year and most of them took advantage of the ventures which have been winning most of the hotspots every year so their quality speaks for themselves.

Regards NCC

2nd May 2012 update

Hi folk's,

The loft is now in full swing and all young birds are coming on well. This week the weather has been good and the birds are taking advantage of this.

The darkness is now going well with feathers flying everywhere. Sean is flat out every day with the up keep of the birds condition and loft environment. The total number of birds will be over the 700 and we will have an update on this soon.

Got a nice letter from top fancier Maurice O Donnell with some of his One Loft Results which were truly amazing

when you read these.

Maurice sends regularly to the Sun City OLR and does very well. Here are some of his results kindly supplied by Maurice.

Sun City OLR Results for 2011 and 2012.

8x1 Country.
9x2nd Country.
1st Country Challenge Semi Final.
66th Open Semi Final.
1st Open Race 5.
Only Irish Winner of the Cascade Challenge.
Then Results in the Final from 578km with 8 entries in race conditions of 35C.

As you can all see these results are first class when you take into account the small team entered in this OLR.

Maurice thanks for the info and we look forward in you enjoying more success in OLR here at the NCC.

Yours In Sport NCC.

3rd May 2012 update

Had a nice chat with Maurice O ODonnell last night and he gave me a few more details about the birds timed in the Sun City which always makes interesting reading.

Out of the 7 birds that were in the final, 5 were bred from 1 hen, and 1 cock now that's a record that no fancier in the world has matched. These 5 birds in particular were bred from a Jos Joosens Hen crossed with a Syndicate Loft cock, bred down from Tips. A Brilliant combination.

Jos Joosen is one of the best long distance fanciers in the world, winner of 2 x 1st Internationals,

1 from Perpignan in 2006, at a distance of 1100kms and the other from Marseille in 2010, from a distance of 1050kms,

as for the cock from the Syndicate Lofts they don't need and introduction as they are world renound for their quality birds.

As you can gather with the above information here we have a pair of pigeons with a proven track record in One Loft Races.

If other fanciers have and details about their performances in OLR don't hesitate to email myself and I gladly put on our web page.

All of the youngsters will be running together shortly except the later ones until they find their feet.

Going to be some sight in the Coleraine skyline when the cream of the fanciers youngsters are racing across the skies.

Regards NCC

30th May 2012 update

The youngsters are all now out together and are doing extremely well. They have been having their liberty everyday and
certainly are enjoying themselves.

May is now nearly over and this incoming month is when we start to turn the screw on them as it won't be long before we
start training on the 1st of july.

Sean has just acquired a transporter which can cater for 1200 birds and presently it is away getting refurbished for the first
of many training tosses.

If you have any spare time on your hands call up and see the excellent condition Sean has the youngsters in.

Some of the NCC members have had some fantastic results while racing with the NIPA and only last week Mr Van Loon
Terrence Mc Crudden had a very good 4th Open with well over 25,000birds competing.

The NCC Team would like to congratulate Terrence on a well deserved win. Regards NCC

11th May 2012 update

This week over 550 youngsters have been out and about flying for the first time as a big group. The remainder are still separated until they find their bearings at home.

This Sunday we will be starting to take photos of the ventures and post these in the respective columns for all to see and buy.

I Was looking through the pedigrees of the ventures direct from Belgium sought out by Sheldon, They are truly outstanding.

Today it is very wet at the lofts and we have the smaller section out to find their wings and settle to the loft.

Once we get everything running together we will endeavour to get everything through the ETS traps and do a head count
for all to see.

The photos of the ventures should start appearing on Sunday as we take them. Also videos are being uploaded onto our youtube channel = http://www.youtube.com/user/NCC1LOFT?feature=mhee , just click the link to be taken straight to the youtube channel.

18th June update

The weather these last few days hasn't been good with high winds and heavy rain. The youngsters were out yesterday and enjoyed there freedom. They exercise with a lot of vigour and are in good condition.

The clock is ticking ever so quickly and we cannot believe how fast the time has went past this season.

The first of the Hotspots are just around the corner and everything is being prepared for you the members and the birds for great racing in 2012 season. This year in particular is going to be very competitive with a lot of first class fanciers sending in their best pigeons. I was looking at a few the other day and noticed some lovely blues and when inspecting them they were in perfect shape being well balanced with lovely deep wine eyes!

And guess what?

These birds belong to a syndicate The Cookstown Sizzlers that flew exceptionally well last season winning a Hotspot and lifting in excess of £1000 in pools in these races throughout the racing season. No doubt they will give it a good shout this season as they have a very strong team entered for this season.

One of the members in this seasons race has been putting up some exceptional results at the very highest level, none other than J L Madden or The Kingpin as he is known in this area.

Leslie won 1st Section A from Talbenny 2 in what is the first of two legs for the coveted RPRA Award from Talbenny and Penzance racing with the Nipa. Leslie is a past winner of this award and will be giving it a good go with his winning mealy hen that has already won for Leslie last season from Rosscarbery. Her breeding is from his famous Lambretch family which Leslie is famed for.

He also finished 8th Open in the INFC Skibbereen National competing against the cream of top fanciers in the whole of Ireland,
a truly outstanding performance when you take into account that he was one of the longest competing that day.

Not to stop there he put up a marvelous result just last week from what has turned out to be a very hard Yearling National with the INFC were he timed in one of his super Lambretch grizzle widowhood cocks for 23rd Open and being the longest flyer to time in on the day.

The NCC would like to congratulate The KingPin on a super series of top results racing against the best fanciers in the country.

23rd July 2012 evening update

Hi all,

Weather conditions here at the NCC are terrible with rain and low cloud and poor visibility. So today the youngsters had an open hole and do what they please along with a bath, lets all hope the sun is not far away and makes some kind of appearance this year.

23rd July 2012 update Hi all,

Yesterday the youngsters were back at the 25 mile stage and unlike the day before when they bombed in they made hard work of it know doubt due to the conditions. I went with the birds today along with milky and ace to get few photos at the liberation point they can be seen under the report below..

The birds were let go in smaller groups due to the windy conditions. They were slow today to leave but they eventually got their bearings and went for home.

We had to move the last few batches back closer to home to the 15 mile stage as conditions changed with the mountains starting to close in. Today they certainly had to work but this is what they need.

If the weather is good tomorrow we will be going to the 40 mile stage. Everything is going well and we have had the vet at the lofts today for their monthly check up and everything has been given all clear.

We are working hard to ensure all the training reports are loaded up asap onto the training page but experienced a few technical glitches while doing so. we are now on top of the issue and our I. T man Phillip is on the case.

Yours In Sport NCC

PS The First Hot-Spot Race is planned for this Sunday 29th July, weather permitting.

26th July 2012 evening update

Hi all,

The clock is ticking ever closer for the first Hotspot series on Sunday.

Today we had the team again at The Bay and upon liberation in separate batches they all snaked off along the line of flight and were gone. Tomorrow we will be back again at the same place and fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Today's toss was exceptional! They took 49 minutes today to cover the distance in perfect conditions and no wind. Myself and milky couldn't believe the way they cleared and the time they made.

Sean definitely has them on song and in good shape. Just a reminder to get your pool money with Sean on time!

Also,

If anyone is looking to buy any of the ventures they MUST have them payed for by 8am on Sunday morning before we create the basket list for the race or they WILL NOT be competing in the Ace pigeon award!

So take note please as we do not want to misunderstand anyone!

We are thinking of a 1pm liberation as to give everyone a chance to get up to the lofts and enjoy the craic!
This is of course weather permitting as the youngsters come first! The time will be posted on the site asap so everyone will know!

The photos shows the first batch being liberated today. Also Sean, Beefy and Milky relaxing in the sun at the lofts.

Please also remember to refresh your internet browser to get your updates from all parts of the site. Some of you are not seeing the instant updates as your browser remembers the pages you visit and just brings up the saved page rather than the updated page. Simply refresh your browsers when you come to the site in case your missing out on the latest news.

25th July 2012 update

Hi all, What a glorious day of weather we had.

Today the lads where up bright an early this morning to hamper up the youngsters for their first training flight from the 45 mile mark. After the loading of the birds it was all systems go after a few phone calls and text messages for the weather conditions along the line of flight.

A big thanks from the Ncc team to Murph in Cookstown for weather updates from his area!

Well off we went on our journey with the Milky Bar Kid doing the driving and me taking some photos of the site which is first class, with big open space right at the foot of the famous Lough Neagh!

Conditions were perfect and the first batch was liberated into glorious sunshine and a very light head wind. They cleared the vicinity very quickly and were seen heading due north straight for home!

The next batch was let up minutes later and they too headed for home leaving the last batch up few minutes later and cleared instantly.

When we reached the Ncc lofts Sean had a big smile on his face and beefy had a big cream bun in his mouth so you can think what you want but I'd say Sean was over the moon in the way they came from this toss in good time. We will put the training result up in the training section for you all.

Remember the first Hotspot starts this Sunday so if you want to pool any of your birds send down the pools to be included!

Sunday is shaping up to be a great day showing a WSW so they should be quick! Tomorrow and friday we will be back at the same place and just bath them in on saturday.

Chat soon! NCC.
