For race four of the old bird season the NIPA birds moved on to Fermoy in County Cork, poor conditions over the line of flight delayed the liberation. The strings were cut and the birds were away at 12.15hrs in a Fresh Westerly wind, the birds came well despite the conditions with heavy showers etc. Most lofts reported birds missing at the end of the day, but the vast majority were home in good time. Over 24,000 birds were competing and it was lofts in the Newry Area that filled the top places. Well done to Owen Markey of the Ballyholland HPS topping the NIPA by 30ypm from club-mate Michael Peters and the former NI Fanciers of the Year Donnelly Bros of Newry City Invitation. This weekend will be busy with races from Roscrea and the OB Inland Nat from Rosscarbery, birds will be race marked on Friday.
