Coming up in November at the Newtownbreda venue a sale for John Wheatcroft, he was one of the early buyers of the famous Hermans Cuesters and breeder of winners, all over the UK! It was through Ad Schaerlaecken that John was able to make contact regarding buying some of the Leo Hermans pigeons. He told him in three year’s time money could not buy them for the average fancier. AD was correct as the Clearance Sale of Hermans Cuesters made a World Record of 4 Million Euro! John was able to purchase 5 cocks and 5 hens plus as many Late Breds as possible. John and Willie McClelland were then able to purchase 5 older breeders. It will come as no surprise to learn that these originals have bred winners for most of the fanciers who have had them. For example – Williams Bros Wales 2nd Nat YB’s from Battle, David Campbell Eastway 3rd Open NIPA Rosscarbery. John is a very good friend of Dutch fancier Cor Buis and sent him 2 Hermans Cuesters to race with one winning 1st Region 2,776 birds plus 2nd Open Provincial from 10,000 birds. Alan Darragh from Cullybackey the Irish Nat record holder won 1st Sect & 1st Open Talbenny and this year the six sent won 2 x 1st Club, 2 2nd Club, 4th Club, 5th Club and 309 won 46th Sect & 66th Open INFC Penzance YB Grand Nat. Maylor & Richardson with his Wheatcroft pigeons has won 40 x 1st Club, 10 x 1sts, 3rd & 7th Up North Combine 18,000 birds and bred Bird of the Year in UNC. Alan Hall Omagh 1st Open NIPA. One of the most sought after families in Europe today are Dick van Bulck, John is a close friend of Patrick Boecx who raced the Sagan Ace Pigeon of Belguim. Patrick and Dirk race much the same pigeons and John has had them before all the hype.
