Kells Open Show – The local clubrooms of Kells & District was the venue on Boxing Day for the annual Open Show, some 230 birds were penned in the classes for Old Bird and Young Birds. The judging team travelled from Coleraine and Ballymoney, Sean Diamond from the North Coast Classic, John Edgar and Ballymoney HPS Secretary Derek McMullan. Visitors cleaned up collecting all the top awards, D & R Turkington from Ballyclare won three classes plus Best in Show, T & K Mawhinney from Donacloney has 1st Young Bird Handled and Best Opposite Sex and finally Fred Simpson from Doagh & District won both Eye-sign classes. Kells & Dist wish to thank all those who supported the Boxing Day Show, and the judges who placed the cards and did a very good job. Thanks to all members who supplied prizes both for the show and the big Holiday Raffle and finally thanks to the many sponsors including Frazer Animal Feeds, Brian Herbison, Francis Connon, Darren Swann, Buffs Social Club, and E Hanna for their generous donations. The Show Cup was won again by A Barkley & Son.
