With poor weather expected in France on Friday, Saturday and Sunday race marking for the Premier OB Derby/Nat was brought forward by one day and despite the late change a very good entry covering all the top organisations in Ireland made the trip to St Malo in France. The birds were released at 7.15am on Thursday 25th June in an Easterly wind, a very warm humid day and good sunshine across Ireland. The early birds made good time but the race turned out very difficult and prizes were still available on the second day. It was a hard test and the Blue Riband Kings Cup next week from Plaudren (Vannes) will I am sure just be as hard. Birds are race marked in Lisburn on Tuesday 30th June between 3.00pm and 7.00pm and the Lib will be on Friday 3rd July, The Code (5085) should be used for distances.
