I have received the sad news that both members of the highly successful Portadown partnership of Jackson Bros, Noel and Oliver Jackson both passed away in a week during the month of May. Ever present in the long distance and hard race events since I first became involved in the sport, they dominated racing for many years in the Annaghmore HPS, mostly as Top Prize-winners. They were one of the very few lofts to win the Devine Memorial Trophy in the NIPA for the Best 2 Bird Average in the Old Bird Derby/National on two occasions. Recently they scored 30th & 70th Open NIPA St Malo, in 2017 8th Open NIPA St Malo winning £2,200 in a race with only 10 birds home in race time. The 30th and 8th Open birds were brother and sister of a cock gifted by their long-time friend Paul Dunlop. In the 2015 season the loft won 1st Sect E & 1st Open NIPA Bude in 2015 on velocity 1594. Sincere condolences to the family circle, Oliver had been racing on his own in Bondhill for a number of years. Homer.
