The IHUNFC held their first Inland National of the year last weekend from Valentia,
there was an entry of 1550 Birds from 132 fanciers from all parts of the Country.
Marking at all the stations went very smoothly and thanks must go to all those in charge and their helpers on the night in insuring that the Transporter got away in time and on its way to the race point.
Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day for the race, not withstanding the East North East wind which does not favour all the sections.
Taking the coveted 1st Open position and
1st section "C" was the inform loft of David Dwyer of the Kilkenny RPC, the Hen, a 2 year old has been a very consistant pigeon, having won from Fermoy as a young bird. She was bred from direct imports from Paul Dalton & Dtr of Liverpool, and David would like to thank Paul for the quality stock that he sent over in 2022. Her velocity of 1480ypm set the tone for the day.
David would also like to thank his wife and kids for all their support over the years, as his loft is situated over 10 miles from his home, and often has to be away from home at the lofts for long periods of time not an easy task and a sure sign of dedication to his choosen sport. Well done David.
2nd section "C" 2nd Open was MarekPiasecki of the Thurles RPC, his 5 year old Blue Hen doing a velocity of 1476ypm just four yards per minute behind the winner.
3rd Sect "C" 3rd Open was the.loft of Milly & Martin Maher Monasterevin RPC with a Yearling Blue cock doing 1470ypm.
1st sect "D" 43rd Open was John Collins of the Tower Invitation RPC in Waterford, John's Blue Cheq cock returning a velocity of 1402ypm just a whisker ahead of
Michael Pepper who clocked two Yearling Mealy cocks to take 2nd & 3rd Sect "D" 47th & 50th Open.
1st Sect "B" 46th Open was A & T Thomas of the Wexfor North & South RPC, Anthony's 2 year old Blue cock flown on widowhood was his sole entry into this race, proving the old adage that it only takes one bird to win the race, the cock has been a consistant performer over the past three seasons. Vel 1400ypm
2nd Sect "B" 56th Open was Billy Cullimore, again of the Wexford RPC was, his 2yo Blue hen 0n 1395ypm.
3rd Sect "B" 67th Open was Jimmy Hamilton of the Leinster Premier RPC, jimmy's 2yo Blue cock doing a velocity of 1386ypm.
Next race will again be an Inland race from Valentia on May 24th just one week before we start our four race Chanel programme from Dale on May 31st.
Followed by Penzance on June 7th then Penzance
Yearling and Old Bird National on June 14th and finally the

lets hope all goes to Plan.
