P & J Boal from Dromore win 1st, 2nd and 3rd Open NIPA Benamore -

In week 6 of the old bird racing season the NIPA raced from Benamore for the third time, the second race available over the same weekend was Bantry Inland National. P & J Boal had a race to remember with three birds together to take 1st, 2nd and 3td Open NIPA. Philip and Joe have won numerous 1st Section in the NIPA totally dedicated and well deserved for a top loft. Remember I like to feature winners in my particular area of coverage Sect A, B, E & H some bird detail and a photo. From Benamor Brendan Morgan from Coalisland was 1st Sect A, Noel Patterspn had a flyer in Muckamore for 1st Sect B, Gregory O’Dowd from Gilford & Dist RPS had 1st Sect E and Davy Booth from Mourne & Dist was once again 1st Sect H. Meryn Eagleson provides excellent coverage for Mid Antrim.

Mid Antrim Combine - NIPA Benamore 23/05/26

Gibson Loft 1st Combine from Benamore

The Nipa were in Benamore on Saturday 23rd May for the comeback race. Birds were released at 9.30am in south south-westerly winds. Best in the Mid Antrim Combine was Gary Gibson of Cullybackey who timing his blue yearling cock at 11.43am flying 144 miles. Gary had the top six in the Cullybackey club and took the top three in the Mid Antrim Combine. Sire of his winner was from P &J Boal of Dromore and is a son of their Van Massenhoven Cock x Perfect Light, both birds being NIPA Open winners, the dam is Gary's Section B Champion YB in 2024.

Harry Boyd was best in Kells and 4th Combine on 1896 followed by the Broughshane winner Marc Neilly on 1896. Marc's winner was a yearling cheq pied widowhood cock. Sire from Bertie Blair, a Leo Van Rijn x Lambrecht and the dam Sticker Donker x Lambrecht. Jimmy Smyth & Son won Ahoghill on 1884 and John & Mark Milliken best in Rasharkin on 1887. Johnston Eagleson & Sons timed a blue pied yearling cock to win Ballymena & District on 1879. The sire topped the Combine from Fermoy a few years back and is a son of 'The Pest' and 'Double Combine Winner'

Gary's 2 bird winner is a dark cheq cock racing widowhood. The cock won the first young bird race last year finishing 1st Mid Antrim Combine, 1st Section B and 81st Open Nipa.
