NIPA Fermoy & Fermoy 5 Bird 05/06/26
The Nipa were in Fermoy for the first time this season on Friday 5th June. The birds were released in County Cork at 8.30am in southerly winds and a fast race followed with the winners recording over 60 mph. Gary Gibson of Cullybackey had the best two birds in the Mid Antrim Combine timing at 11.29am flying 200 miles to record 1960 and 1959. Gary topped the Mid Antrim Combine and took 2nd & 3rd Section B, 53rd & 57th Open 7326 birds. His mealy cock winner is from a direct Van Vugt Donckers cock and his good Van Den Brande hen bred by DCP McArdle Armagh. The cock won Cloughmartin as a youngster and is half brother to 1st MA Combine Grenagh and 2nd MA Combine Fermoy etc.
Johnston Eagleson & Sons were next best in the Combine with two birds doing 1958 &1956 and placed 4th & 5th Section and 62nd & 68th Open. Their winning blue pied cock won Benamore earlier in the season. Sire is a son of 'The Pest' and 'Double Combine Winner' and the dam a gift from Paddy & William McManus is from their number one Alex Docx pair.
Jimmy Smyth & Son had the Ahoghill winner on 1944 and 8th Combine. Marc Neilly was best in Broughshane on 1938 and 9th Combine. His winner a yearling cock from Robin Service of Ballymena is from Ceuster x Soontjen lines of Derek Parr.
John & Mark Milliken had the top two in Rasharkin with the winner doing 1909 and Harry Boyd was best in Kells on 1903.

MID ANTRIM COMBINE FERMOY 5 BIRD –
Gary Gibson did the double winning the duplicated 5 bird in the Mid Antrim Combine on 1959 and finished 1st Section B & 15th Open Nipa. His winning 2 year old mealy Stickers Donckers cock sitting 6 day eggs won 1st Mid Antrim Combine & 1st Section Roscrea 2,527 birds as a young bird and is full brother to 1st Section & 17th Open Dale YB National 2024.
Johnston Eagleson & Sons were next best on 1956 and placed 2nd Section & 19th Open. They timed a 2yo red cheq hen that won Dunmanway Inland National last season and was again the first bird this season. Sire was a gift cock from Paddy & William McManus being a Gert Heylen grandson of Jackpot when he was paired to a daughter of Danny Dixon's Champion Heartbreaker, while the self bred Van Den Bulck dam is half sister to last seasons Section B Champion Old Bird.
Paddy & William McManus won Ahoghill on 1925 and took 4th Combine. Their winner a 2yo blue pied hen is bred off a pair of Arie Dijkstra birds.
Harry Boyd was best in Kells on 1903 and 5th Combine. Harry timed his Benamore Combine & Section winner from a few weeks back. Bloodlines are Soontjen from Sammy Ogle and Harold Cubitt was best in Rasharkin on 1876 with his good 4yo dark Lambrecht cock 'Billy Joe' a winner of many first prizes.

New officials are Chairman Robin Service from Ballymena & District and Secretary Willie Reynolds from Ballymena & District. President is Danny Dixon. Mervyn Eagleson is PO. All the latest news and results will be listed here, including Champions League and OB & YB Knock-out. Fees for 2024 are £5.00 for Clubs which includes all the members.
