Rules
Thursday 25th, March

Here are Wicklow Hill Rules and Regulations :

1. The race will be known as Wicklow Hills One Loft Race 2010. The loft is situated on the outskirts of Wicklow Town.

2. Entry is open to all, including international entries; however, all birds must bear an approved Association/Union ring issued in 2010.

3. The loft will open to receive entries on 10 of january and every 14 days thereafter until 10th May.

4. It will be the responsibility of the European entries to get their birds to the loft or a collection point in Europe by prior arrangement.

5. Irrespective, all birds entering the loft will be vaccinated against Paramyxovirus and Pox and treated for the prevention of e-coli. Birds will also be tested periodically by our resident veterinary surgeon to maintain a healthy loft.

6. The entry fee will be €100.00 per bird. Entries are unlimited and the allocation of space will be on a first come first served basis. On receipt of €50.00 per bird non-refundable deposit, space will be guaranteed; Cheques to be made payable to Wicklow Hills Loft.

7. On entering the loft the birds will become the property of the organising committee. After the final race the race the birds will be auctioned off. 50% to owner, 25% to loft and 25% to crumlin hospital dublin

8. The birds will be flown on the darkness, trained daily, weather permitting on the line of flight, and will participate in 2 Hot Spot Races prior to the final race. Birds will be wing stamped and every effort will be made to repatriate lost birds to the loft.

9. Birds will be timed using the Tauris Derby electronic clocking system.

10. The main race, weather permitting, will be flown on August bankholiday 2010 from Skibbereen on the southern coast of Ireland, a distance of approx. 240kms.

11. Hot Spot Races will be flown on (date yet to be issued).

12. The Ace Pigeon will be the bird with the lowest combination flying time for the Hot Spot Races and the Main Race. A trophy will be presented to the overall Winner and 1st in each country participation.

13. The race will be flown under the auspices of the Irish Homing Union and licensed accordingly for all races. Basketing for all races will be overseen by nominated officials from the local clubs.

14. Daily training tosses, news, reports and results will be available on www.wicklowhills.ie

15. The organising committee reserves the right to change or modify the dates and/or liberation sites depending on the weather conditions as the welfare of the birds will be our main priority. The decision of the committee will be final.

16. The chanel bird race is open to all the birds that return from the main race SKIBBEREEN

17. The channel bird race will be from BUDE ENGLAND 160miles


18. No family members or anyone involved in the day to day running are allowed enter the race

10 birds €750 + 3 free replacements
20 birds €1400 + 5 free replacements
