INTERNATIONAL PRESS RELEASE
THE 17th SOUTH AFRICAN MILLION DOLLAR PIGEON RACE
RESULTS FOR TRAINING FLIGHT 5 & CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1.
TRAINING FLIGHT 5 took place on Wednesday 21st November 2012 from 78km (48 miles) and the basketing list on the official web site showed a total of 3,849 pigeons were basketed and this total was made up by 3,446 International, which included 342 United Kingdom and 65 Irish pigeons plus 403 from South Africa.
The convoy were liberated at 07.15 in fine and warm conditions, few clouds with virtually no head wind, with temperature of 22c (72f) and a good race was expected.
I got up early and watched the arrival of the pigeons live on LiveStream, I expected them to arrive about 08.10 and then at 08.11 lots of groups arrived from different directions and hit the lofts and within minutes the two loft roofs were covered with pigeons. The trapping was very slow but as usual a few of course trapped reasonably quickly and these were the race winners. If you have not yet watched the pigeons arrive live yet, then I strongly recommend you take a look as it really will open your eyes seeing the pigeons drop from the sky, nearly 6,000 miles away. MODERN TECHNOLOGY AT ITS BEST.

GLOBAL AND COUNTRY NOMINATIONS started on TRAINING FLIGHT 2 on Saturday 10th November and these can be added by entrants by going onto the official web site and then logging into their own AS account. GLOBAL NOMINATIONS are available at US$1, US$2, US$5, US$10, US$20, US$50, US$100, US$200 and US$500 categories. UK COUNTRY NOMINATIONS are available at US$1, US$2, US$5, US$10 and US$20.
In the GLOBAL NOMINATIONS for CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1 a total of 438 pigeons (57 from UK and 8 from IRELAND) were entered with 1,434 nominations and a total of US$12,732.15c (£8,488) was flown for and there was no UK or Irish winners. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE INTERNATIONAL WINNERS.
UK COUNTRY NOMINATIONS only had 11 pigeons and 40 nominations amounting to US$191.25 (£127) and this was won by Lloyd and Kelly from Steventon with pigeon named You Can Only Dream which took 440th Open.
CASCADE CHALLENGE also started on TRAINING FLIGHT 2 and this is basically a “Single Pigeon Nomination” at a cost of US$10 (£6-50) per pigeon. Only one pigeon in each syndicate can be entered and to win this “Pot Of Gold” a nominated pigeon has to win 1st Open. If not then whatever is in the pot carries forward to the next Nomination Flight. As this CASCADE CHALLENGE was not won on the Final Race in the last 2011/12 race series, a sum of US$3,538.50 is the starting fund carried forward for this 2012/13 race series. A total of US$4,388.50c was flown for in TRAINING FLIGHT 2 but this was not won so this money was carried over to TRAINING FLIGHT 4 when “THE POT OF GOLD” rose to US$5,451 and a total of 125 pigeons were entered (20 UK and 3 from IRELAND). “THE POT OF GOLD” was not won and the money was carried over to CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1 when US$7,236 (£4,824) was flown for with 210 pigeons entered, which included 28 from the UK and 3 from Ireland. Once again this competition was not won and will be carried over to the next race. Nearest pigeon to winning was Team Sylt 2000-Fenten from Germany with pigeon named Sylt Raul which took 8th Open, just 43.65 seconds after the race winner. The first UK pigeon took 185th Open for Harbro Rowdies, administer by Ken Chapman from Leicester and with pigeon named Abbykins bred by A. Duggins. The first IRISH pigeon took 577th Open for Mousies Dream Team with pigeon named The Deise Rocket. GOOD LUCK IN THE NEXT ROUND TO ALL ENTRANTS.
Of course before you can actually NOMINATION a pigeon or pigeons or put a pigeon in the CASCADE CHALLENGE you must have the appropriate funds in your AS account. So if you wish to have a bit of extra fun during the 2012/13 race series please contact your Country Shipper as soon as possible who will then pass your funds over to the race organisers so that you have enough funds in your AS account to have a little gamble.
IF YOU STILL HAVE PIGEONS THAT ARE “NOT-ACTIVATED” these can be “ACTIVATED” before any of the remaining CAR RACE HOT SPOTS but only ACTIVATED PIGEONS are eligible to fly for any of the US$100,000 Prize Money or Brand New Motor Cars allocated to each of these five races, plus of course you have the US$2,000 Two-Bird Average in each Car Race Hot Spots, US$5,000 Car Race Hot Spot Ace Pigeon Award, about US$40,000 International Country Challenge Prize Money, US$25,000 Knockout Prize Money and US$17,500 South African Race Grand Average Ace Pigeon Awards which has three cash prizes of US$10,000, US$5,000 and US$2,500. If your RESERVE PIGEONS are not ACTIVATED, then you will have no chance to win any of this Prize Money or the 5 Brand New Motor Cars. Take a close look at what is being offered to you, if you ACTIVATE A RESERVE PIGEON for US$1,000 and you then lose this pigeon or pigeons prior to basketing for the Final Race and this pigeon has not won any of the Special Prize Money or any of the 5 Brand New Motor Cars, you get this US$1,000 entry fee refunded in full into your AS account, which you can then use to purchase another RESERVE PIGEON or leave it in your AS account to fund another race entry at a later date. If you decide to request the US$1,000 (approx. £650) entry fees to be paid out after the race has closed, there will be about a US$15 (approx. £10) deducted which will be a bank transfer charge. If one of the RESERVE PIGEON/S you ACTIVATE goes on and wins one of the 100 US$1,000 Car Race Hot Spot Cash Prizes and then gets lost prior to the basketing for the Final Race, it has actually cost you nothing as you paid US$1,000 for it and it will have won you US$1,000. Of course for your pigeon/s to be eligible to compete in THE KNOCKOUT COMPETITION, CAR RACE HOT SPOT AVERAGES, they will of have to have been “ACTIVATED” before CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1. However, of course it could win you a lot more in Cash Prize Money and even a Brand New Motor Car or any of the other Special Prize Money allocated to these 5 Car Race Hot Spots. SO PLEASE DO NOT CAUGHT OUT BY NOT ACTIVATING ANY OF YOUR RESERVE PIGEONS AS IT COULD COST YOU A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY PLUS THE EMBARRASSMENT OF WINNING A MAJOR PRIZE AND THEN NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM IT. EVERY YEAR FROM DAY ONE, FANCIERS MISS OUT ON WINNING MAJOR CASH PRIZES, PLUS QUITE A FEW HAVE MISSED OUT ON WINNING A BRAND NEW MOTOR CAR JUST BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ACTIVATE THEIR RESERVE PIGEONS. YOU REALLY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE!
