RESULTS FOR TRAINING FLIGHT 14 & CAR RACE HOT SPOT 5.

TRAINING FLIGHT 14 took place on Wednesday 9th January 2013 from 78km (48 miles) and the basketing list on the official web site showed a total of 2,945 pigeons were basketed and this total was made up by 2,621 International, which included 255 United Kingdom and 38 Irish pigeons plus 324 from South Africa.

The convoy were liberated at 08.00 in fine and clear conditions, few clouds with virtually no head wind, with temperature of 25c (77f) and a good race was expected.

The OPEN result was as follows and CONGRATULATIONS goes to Richard Callahan from United States Of America who took 1st Open with their pigeon named Sailors Choice which was clocked at 08.53.54.12 to record a velocity of 1565ypm (53mph), this great pigeon has now won 3 x 1st Opens in this race series from TR4, TF11 and now TR14 all races were from 78km (48 miles), 2nd just 05.80 seconds later was Heinz Axer from Germany, 3rd Homeward Bound Syndicate from South Africa, 4th Piotr Surowiec from United States Of America, 5th Als Loft from United States Of America, 6th Team Esser – Klaas from Germany with pigeon named Purdey that has already won 24th, 15th, 12th, 3rd, 16th, 38th and now 6th in this race series, 7th Henri, Petra and Rik from South Africa, 8th Peter + Milan Wynants from Belgium, 9th Juergen Stefaniszyn from Germany, 10th Nemelka – Swingley – Greek from United States Of America, 11th Madison Loft from United States Of America, 12th Koopman Racing Team from Netherlands, 13th Team Raetzel – Fischer from Germany, 14th Nils Gerdemann from Germany, 15th Club Jeffreysbaai Duiwe Klub from South Africa, 16th Josef Lang from Germany, 17th Hok Jos Vercammen from Belgium, 18th Gaddin Bros and Charl Stander from South Africa, 19th Racing Team Illusion from Germany and 20th Anfield Lofts from Zimbabwe. The time gap between the first 20 pigeons was just 19.31 seconds and a total of 6 different countries were represented in this result. A total of 2,912 pigeons were officially recorded on the day, leaving 33 still to make it back to the lofts.

CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st UK, 53rd Open went to Myrtle Lofts – Evans + Walker with pigeon named Myrtle Magic bred by Mark & Dickie Evans from Whitley Bridge, which was officially clocked at 08.54.29.08 just 34.96 seconds behind the actual race winner, 2nd UK, 54th Open Aurea Dream Team UK, administered by Ronnie Johnson from West Bromwich and with pigeon bred by himself, 3rd UK, 58th Open Mark Gilbert from Windsor, who has also been flying a good pigeon in this race series, 4th UK, 63rd Open Diamonds Are Forever Syndicate, with pigeon bred by Jackson-Andrew-Kirby from Asselby, 5th UK, 67th Open Common View Lofts with pigeon bred by John Coper from Pontypridd, 6th & 8th UK, 78th & 93rd Open Lloyd and Kelly from Abingdon, whose pigeons are once again flying well in this race series, 7th UK, 80th Open Toms Terriers with pigeon that has scored a few times and bred by Tom Berry from Silsden, 9th UK, 112th Open another for Myrtle Lofts – Evans + Walker, 10th & 13th UK, 124th & 174th Open Planet Brothers with two pigeons bred by this great partnership from Noak Hill, 11th UK, 139th Open Paul Smith Syndicate, administered by Paul Smith from Stansted Mountfitchet and with pigeon bred by Jimmy Richards from Laindon, 12th UK, 165th Open C Brown – V Mudd – P Oberholster with pigeon that has been flying well and bred by Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe, 14th UK, 188th Open Wayside Syndicate with pigeon bred by I & D. Maddison from Hartlepool, 15th UK, 200th Open Manchester Maestros with pigeon bred by Crehan & O’Conner from Salford, 16th UK, 203rd Open Lucky Devils Syndicate, administered by Paul Smith and with a pigeon bred by Jos Reilly from Dublin, 17th UK, 214th Open Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with another pigeon that has flown exceptionally well in this race series, 18th UK, 219th Open Myrtle Lofts – Evans + Walker, their third pigeon in this result, 19th UK, 222nd Open The Farriers with pigeon bred by Brian Greenley from Swinton, this pigeon has also scored numerous times in this race series and 20th UK, 225th Open Harbro Hellcats, administered by Ken Chapman from Leicester and with pigeon bred by Adrian Duggins. A total of 254 UK pigeons were officially recorded on the day, leaving just 1 still to return to base camp.

CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st Ireland, 41st Open went to Universal Warrior with pigeon named Alfie and bred by John Enright, which was clocked at 08.54.24.71 just 30.59 seconds behind the race winner, 2nd Ireland, 46th Open Jos Reilly – Team Ireland with pigeon bred by Jos Reilly from Dublin, 3rd Ireland, 52nd Open Aurea Dream Team Eire, administered by Ronnie Johnson from West Bromwich and with pigeon bred by Sheldon Leonard, 4th Ireland, 126th Open O’Donnell ABU Lofts with pigeon bred by Maurice O’Donnell and then 5th & 6th Ireland, 277th & 392nd Open two pigeons bred by Phillip + Mark Smith. A total of 38 Irish pigeons were recorded on the day, leaving none to return to the lofts.

THE OVERALL GRAND AVERAGES WHICH OFFERS A US$10,000 (£6,500), US$5,000 (£3,250) and US$2,500 (£1,625) CASH PRIZES in this category results after 17 official races currently stands as follows:- 1st goes to Pieter Oberholster from United Kingdom with his pigeon named Obi See You with a combined flying time of 26 hours 58 minutes 36.47 seconds, leading this category by just over 4 minutes. The first UK pigeon is holding 1st Open and is owned by Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with pigeon named Obi See You.
The first Irish pigeon holds 42nd Open and is owned by O’Donnell ABU Lofts with pigeon named Joes Delight 2 bred by Maurice O’Donnell.

***CASCADE CHALLENGE had a total of US$11,171.50c (£7,450) up for grabs and had 178 entries which included 17 from the United Kingdom and just 1 from Ireland. There was no winner in this race and the prize money will be carried forward to HOT SPOT CAR RACE 5.
The pigeon that was nearest to winning this cash prize was named She’s All That that took 3rd Open for the Homeward Bound Syndicate from South Africa. The nearest United Kingdom pigeon took 165th Open for Obi Ld 2 entered by C Brown – V Mudd – P Oberholster and bred by Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe. The nearest Irish pigeon took 126th Open was Joe’s Delight 2 entered by O’Donnell ABU Lofts with pigeon bred by Maurice O’Donnell.

GLOBAL NOMINATIONS in this race amounted to US$3,825.85c (£2,550) and had a total of 448 Nominations and 131 pigeons competing, which included 17 from the United Kingdom and just 1 from Ireland. There were no UK or Irish winner in this race. UNITED KINGDOM NOMINATIONS in this race were nil.

CAR RACE HOT SPOT 5 took place on Saturday 12th January 2013 from 356km (221 miles) and the basketing list on the official web site showed a total of 2,960 pigeons being basketed and this total included 2,637 International, which included 256 United Kingdom and 38 Irish pigeons, plus 323 South African pigeons.

The convoy was liberated on Sunday morning at 05.35 in fine and clear conditions with a little to no wind and temperature of 18c (64f) and a steady race was expected. As the day progressed the temperature would rise to around 28c (84f) with a possibility of rain later in the day. It looked like this was going to be a good, steady and testing race and just what these athletes of the skies needed in the preparation for the Final Race from 550km (342 miles) in just three weeks time.

The OPEN result was as follows and CONGRATULATIONS goes to Mershed Jedova Alnamlan from Kuwait who took 1st Open with their pigeon named M J 1 which was officially clocked at 10.38.55.17 to record a velocity of 1280ypm (43mph), this winning pigeon had previously flown exceptionally well throughout this race series and won 56th, 2nd, 172nd, 68th, 11th, 32nd, 47th, 20th, 24th, 9th, 35th, 198th and now 1st, what a consistent pigeon which well deserved this great win, 2nd just 02.80 seconds behind was Thomas Kornelius from Germany, this pigeon had previously won 101st, 116th, 188th, 6th, 52nd, 43rd, 19th and now 2nd, 3rd Las Vladimir and Juraq from Slovakia, this pigeon named Gabi L has also flown well and previously won 92nd, 28th, 75th, 217th, 32nd, 3rd, 87th and now 3rd, in the five Car Race Hot Spot this pigeon won 28th, 75th, 3rd, 1037th and now 3rd, 4th Golden Team from United States Of America, 5th Jan Hooymans – Hu Zhen Yu from Netherlands, 6th Thamer Rashed from Kuwait, 7th EW Solomon from South Africa, 8th Gaddin Bros and Charl Stander from South Africa, 9th Bert Berends from Netherlands, 10th Dr Laszlo Gotthard from Hungary, 11th Gebr Bluemmers from Germany, 12th Altmiks + Soudy from Germany, 13th Rudolf Cossmann from Germany, 14th S+F Kasan from Slovakia, 15th Juergen Stefaniszyn from Germany, 16th Premier Stud UK Syndicate from United Kingdom, 17th Team Steffi from Germany, 18th Koopman Racing Team from Nettherlands, 19th Wilhelm Stoll from Germany and 20th Team Sylt 200 – Newill. The time gap between the first 20 pigeons was 1 minute 52.80 seconds and a total of 8 different countries were represented in this result. A total of 2,507 pigeons were clocked on the day up to 19.45, leaving 453 still to make it back to the lofts. The remaining pigeons started rolling in and the first one clocked on Sunday morning was 05.09 and a further 235 pigeons were officially clocked during the day up to 19.03, making a total of 2,742, leaving just 235 still to make it back to base camp. I am sure a few more pigeons will return over the next few days.

***BRAND NEW MOTOR CAR WINNER IN CAR RACE HOT SPOT 5 was won by the pigeon named M J 1 that took 1st Open which belonged to Mershed Jedova Alnamlan from the Kuwait. CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS WONDERFUL ACHIEVEMENT.

***TWENTY US$1,000 (£650) CASH PRIZES IN CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1 were won by the top twenty pigeons clocked in the Open result, which are all mentioned above.

***TWO PIGEON CHALLENGE OFFERS A US$2,000 (£1,300) CASH PRIZE for the best two bird average in each on the 5 CAR RACE HOT SPOTS, only fully paid up pigeons are eligible to compete and the winner will be the “TEAM” that has the best average with two pigeons in the same team. The winner in this race was Koopman Racing Team from Netherlands with Team AC with pigeon named She S Medieval and Above Suspicion. The best United Kingdom Team took 32nd Open for Lloyd and Kelly Team G from Abingdon with their pigeons named Franklin and Laughing Boy. The best Irish Team took 79th Open for O’Donnell ABU Lofts Team D with pigeons named Dave Cole and Mrs Bucket, both bred by Maurice O’Donnell.

***THE KNOCKOUT COMPETITION is only open for pigeons that were ACTIVATED (FULLY PAID FOR) prior to basketing for CAR RACE HOT SPOT 1 and a US$25,000 (£16,225) cash prize goes to the winner which will be the first pigeon clocked in this category in the Final Race on Saturday 2nd February 2013. The entry for this competition this year was 3,028 pigeons and was made up by 2,759 International pigeons, which included 279 from United Kingdom and 57 from Ireland, plus 269 from the host country South Africa. Knockout Round 4 was held on Car Race Hot Spot 5 when just 76 pigeons (20%) will then go through to The Knockout Final Round which will be held on the Final Race in the 2012/13 17th SAMDPR series and the first pigeon clocked that is left in this category will walk away with “THE POT OF GOLD” worth US$25,000 (£16,225). After this race only 3 United Kingdom pigeons named Betty Bro (Aurea Dream Team UK), Don’t Pass Me By (Syndicate Lofts UK) and Southfield Ocean (Mark Gilbert), plus 1 Irish pigeon named Toddy (Universal Warrior) remaining in the running. A TOTAL OF 16 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES STILL HAVE PIGEONS IN THIS COMPETITION, GOOD LUCK TO ALL COMPETITORS THAT HAVE A PIGEON OR PIGEONS LEFT IN THE FINAL RACE.

***CAR RACE HOT SPOT ACE PIGEON AWARD OFFERS A US$5,000 (£3,250) CASH PRIZE to the overall winner after the 5 Car Race Hot Spots. Only “ACTIVATED” pigeons are eligible to compete for this prize and the winner will be the pigeon that completes the combined distance of all Car Race Hot Spots in the shortest flying time. In the event of a tie, then the pigeon with the highest placing in the Car Race Hot Spot 5 will be declared the overall winner. The winner of the US$5,000 cash prize was Horst u Frank Sander from Germany with their pigeon named Ornat with a combined flying time of 17.15.53.47 and winning by 1 minute 15.22 seconds. This outstanding pigeon won 2,404th, 61st, 22nd, 26th and then 93rd in the fifth and final race in this category. Hard luck to the runner-up which was Altmiks + Soudy from Germany with their good pigeon named Blue River which had taken 19th, 317th, 28th, 554th and then 12th in the fifth and final race. This pigeon is now leading the Overall Grand Averages. The best United Kingdom pigeon took 19th Open for Mark Gilbert from Windsor with his good pigeon named Southfield Ocean with a combined flying time of 17.52.50.54, which won 2221st, 297th, 569th, 349th and 51st in these five races. The best Irish pigeon took 96th Open for Universal Warrior with pigeon named Toddy with a combined flying time of 18.45.08.08, winning 1416th, 1030th, 973rd, 745th and 306th in these five race. ***INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY CHALLENGE which offered a total of US$42,000 (£28,000) Prize Money, in 5 x US$5,000 (£3,333) and 17 x US$1,000 (£667) Cash Prizes for the first “Activated Pigeon” clocked in each country which finish in the top 250 clocked in on the day in this CAR RACE HOT SPOT 5, with pigeons from the top five countries taking the bigger US$5,000 cash prizes followed US$1,000 cash prizes. The nearest United Kingdom pigeon took 51st Open for Mark Gilbert from Windsor with his good pigeon named Southfield Ocean. The nearest Irish pigeon took 1388th Open for O’Donnell ABU Lofts with pigeon named Joes Delight 2 which was bred by Maurice O’Donnell. THIS “POT OF GOLD” NOW ROLLS OVER TO THE NEXT RACE.

CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st UK, 16th Open went to Premier Stud UK Syndicate, administered by Paul Smith from Stansted Mountfitchet and with the winning pigeon named Premier Pearl which was bred by the Premier Stud from Patringham Haven. CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st Ireland, 84th Open was O’Donnell ABU Lofts with pigeon named Dave Cole bred by Maurice O’Donnell which was clocked at 10.59.56.97, 21 minutes 01.80 seconds behind the race winner, 2nd & 6th Ireland, 290th & 411th Open also went to O’Donnell ABU Lofts with two more pigeons bred by Maurice O’Donnell, 3rd Ireland, 306th Open Universal Warrior, 4th Ireland, 311th Open Hennie + Anette Kallmeyer and 5th Ireland, 369th Open Jos Reilly – Team Ireland with pigeon bred by Jos Reilly. A total of 34 Irish pigeons were officially recorded on the day, leaving just 4 still to return to the lofts. Sunday morning dawned and just 1 more returned home during the day, leaving 3 pigeons still to return to the lofts.

THE OVERALL GRAND AVERAGES category results after 18 official races currently stands as follows:- 1st goes to Altmits + Soudy from Germany with their pigeon named Blue River with a combined flying time of 32.24.11.74, leading by over 12 minutes, already the winner of 8th, 19th, 317th, 28th, 160th, 83rd, 32nd and now 12th Open. This pigeon also came Runner-Up in the CAR RACE HOT SPOT AVERAGES. The best United Kingdom pigeon holding 28th Open and belongs to Mark Gilbert from Windsor with his pigeon named Southfield Ocean with a combined flying time of 33.36.55.85. The first Irish pigeon holds 89th and belongs to Universal Warrior with pigeon named Toddy with a combined flying time of 34.25.13.84.

GLOBAL NOMINATIONS in this race amounted to a staggering US$20,836.05c (£13,891) and had a total of 470 pigeons entered, which included 47 from the United Kingdom and just 4 from Ireland and the United Kingdom Team had just one winner and that was:- 51st Open to Mark Gilbert from Windsor with his good pigeon named Southfield Ocean that walked away with a cool US$986 (£658). WELL DONE MARK ON THIS OUTSTANDING WIN.

UNITED KINGDOM NOMINATIONS in this race amounted to US$1,460.30 (£974) and had 27 pigeons with 123 nominations and there was two winners, namely Mark Gilbert from Windsor with his pigeon named Southfield Ocean that won 51st Open and walked away with a cool US$1,377 (£918), then in 177th Open was Manchester Maestros with pigeon named Lucky Tots, bred by Crehan & O’Conner from Salford and this pigeon won US483.30c (£56) for its effort. WELL DONE TO BOTH THESE ENTRANTS.

The remaining race programme will be as follows:- Training Flight 15 (*) on Saturday 19th January 2013 from 80km (50 miles), Training Flight 16 (*) on Wednesday 23rd January 2013 from 80km (50 miles), Training Flight 17 (*) on Saturday 26th January 2013 from 125km (78 miles) and then THE FINAL RACE (*) on Saturday 2nd February 2013 from 550km (342 miles). ALL THESE RACES WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE APPOINTED DAY PROVIDING THE WEATHER IS SUITABLE FOR THE LIBERATION AND RACE TO TAKE PLACE, IF NOT THEY COULD BE FLOWN ON ANOTHER DAY WHEN THE WEATHER FORECAST WAS MORE FAVOURABLE. ONLY RACES OF 50KM (31 MILES) OR OVER COUNT TOWARDS THE ACE PIGEON AWARDS. ALL THE NOMINATION RACES ARE ALL MARKED WITH AN ASTERIX (*) NEXT TO THE FLIGHT OR RACE.

IF YOU STILL HAVE PIGEONS THAT ARE “NOT-ACTIVATED” these can be “ACTIVATED” before the FINAL RACE. However, you only 7 days after CAR RACE HOT SPOT 5 to get this done, otherwise any “UN-ACTIVATED PIGEONS” will be offered for sale on a first come, first served basis to the first person that wishes to purchase it for US$1,000 (£650). SO PLEASE DO NOT CAUGHT OUT BY NOT ACTIVATING ANY OF YOUR RESERVE PIGEONS AS IT COULD COST YOU A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY PLUS THE EMBARRASSMENT OF ONE OF YOUR PIGEONS THAT YOU BRED WINNING A MAJOR PRIZE IN THE FINAL RACE AND THEN NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM IT.
