NIPA Clonmel - 04/05/13

Post by willie reynolds »

Lisburn City & Around - Father and Son Teams to the Fore.

For the third week of the O/B campaign the NIPA where in Clonmel with the Ulster Federation in Thurles. With a good hard honest fly last week following the blow home in week one, the pigeons faced a similar quick event from the weekend liberations with the leading pigeons in the NIPA doing over 1800ypm with the Federation into the 1900's. This down to the wind gaining strength as the day progressed.

In the Lisburn area it was the turn of the Spence Bros partnership flying to the Knockmore Park Area of Lisburn to just not take 1st and 2nd Club flying with the strong and competitive Lisburn & District HPS with some 29 members sending 793 pigeons but better news was on the cards for the loft where to come as close as 4 yards from winning the NIPA Open with 26,883 pigeons competing, seconds involved on a fast day. The father and son team namely Brian and son Roy take the Section honours also finishing 5th Section with 3,546 pigeons competing.

Having a look round the other Clubs I see the loft of Ian Gibb and sons have run wild again taking the first ten in the Glenavy club for the 2nd week running, a loft truly in good form and not many lofts have achieved that fate over the years of taking the first ten positions two weeks on the trot and like last week many of these will be well placed. Tony Cooke wins the Colin HPS for the second week on the trot this week clocking a Van Dyke sourced from Kevin Rooney. Sid Granger & Son flying with the Hills and Maze Club finish 1st and 2nd Club against 413 pigeons with the first arrival finishing 2nd Section D and 6th Open NIPA superb performance. 3rd Section D takes us to the hot bed of Dromore where honours this week fall to the Section Winning loft from Week 1, namely Philip and Joe Boal. What a season they are having to date flying to their new address. This week Philip and Joe timed a Yearling Blue Widowhood hen. Full Willy Van Herck this hen was timed at 11.42 flying 155 miles to win 1st Club Dromore 509 birds, 3rd Section "D" 3546 birds, 12th Open NIPA 26,833 birds.

Her Sire is a direct Van Herck winner of twice 1st in Belgium, bought 2 years ago by Philip on a visit to the loft Willy Van Herck at Retie, the Dam is a daughter of Brothers No 1 pair, and mother to many good pigeons just not for the brothers but many fanciers around the country she is also and G/Dam to Rab Rea's 1st National winner. This Latest Winner for Philip should have topped the Section in week one finishing 2nd Section beaten by loft mate having arrived first and sat out all the same this class yearling hen scored 2nd Section 1795 birds, 31st Open NIPA 14,733 birds also a winner of 21st Section 1975 birds, 66th Open NIPA 21,506 birds as a y/bird. Just to cap the Loft of Philip & Joe Boal finished 1st and 7th Club Dromore, finishing 3rd 19th 40th Section "D" 3546 birds, 12th 85th 154th Open NIPA 26,833 Birds.

Ricky McCullough makes it three on the trot flying with the Derriaghy HPSexcellent consistency also something I took note of he won the Club this weekwith an 8 year old finishing 166th Open superb performance from a pigeon of thatage. The Skibbereen National winning loft of Cromie and Magee top the Dromara Club on 1764 ypm with 531 pigeons competing. Now another father and son team racing very consistently in Lisburn is that of Ashley Gore and son Robert flying into the Tonagh area of the town they compete with the Lagan Valley Rpc this week they topped the Club for the 3rd week running this week taking the first three with the leading pigeon on a velocity of 1891ypm. Not too many lofts have achieved that fate also especially in this highly competitive Ulster Federation affiliated Club. Robert and Ashley times a G/Son of their Talbenny Y/Bird Derbywinner. Sourced from the Gibb & Byrne Stud this one’s father was also a winner for the R & A Gore team. Seen them heading to the Club on Friday evening and posed the question where they going for three on the trot, hopefully was the cautious and respective response from Robert. Very well done to all the winners this week.
