For race four of the young bird season the local birds were in Roscrea in County Tipperary, liberation was at 9.00am in a helping South, South West wind. Change of race point but no change to result, the best local bird as the week previous was timed by Jeff Surgenor of the Kells & Dist HPS. He timed at 11.29am to record velocity 1726 for the 146 miles, to take 1st Combine, 1st Sect B and a good 19th Open NIPA where 24,500 birds were competing. This latest winner is the nest-mate of last week’s 1st MAC Tullamore, breeding is Hartog & Busschaert. Kells & Dist had the best local birds, runner up a second bird for Surgenor Bros, followed by Harry Boyd and George McDowell. Mr & Mrs Sempey had the best bird in the town for 1st Ballymena & Dist (1667), and Lexie Mullan had 1st Harryville (1658).

A second win in the young birds for Martin and Elke Sempey, their Blue hen flying to the perch was timed at 11.34am to record velocity 1667 for the 146 miles into Ballykeel. She is the same way bred as their earlier winner from Navan, a daughter of the gift Lambrecht from Danny Dixon (Rasharkin).
