The weekend race was changed at the last minute with the birds collected on Saturday evening one hour earlier than usual and released in Clonmel on Sunday at Noon in a helping Southerly wind. Despite heavy showers across Ireland the birds made good time with Danny Dixon from Dunloy timing the best bird with a velocity of 2046ymp. It was a photo finish for 2nd and 3rd with Allen McBride of Harryville just ahead of J & N Simpson from Broughshane. Mr & Mrs Sempey made it 5 x 1sts in Ballymena & District and George McDowell had 1st Kells & District.

Club entry fees, details and cheque for payment to be made in the Cullybackey HPS Clubrooms on Wednesday 18th June between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. All birds including the Pernzance Classic birds will be race marked in Cullybackey Centre on Thursday 19th June between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. All clocks are to be set in Cullybackey, ready after transporter departs, and all clocks will be returned to Cullybackey for checking. At least two members should be present from all member clubs.
The local birds were competing at the weekend from Clonmel, and as well, a 5 Bird Championship race from Fermoy. Despite the weather conditions with a lot of rain early birds made good time on Sunday.

OBITUARY
BOB McMEEKIN : It is with deep regret and sincere sadness that I have to inform the fancy of the sudden
passing of one of my closest friends within the pigeon fraternity - Bob McMeekin - . Bob was known by all
concerned within the pigeon world from fancy , tippler & racing men combined . His workshop was a mecca
for fanciers to call in for a quick chat and " a bit of craic " . Nothing was a bother or problem to Bob and his
handmade nestboxes , perches , feeders and all aspects of wooden products were sourced by the fancy from all
over. Bob was just " One In A Million" and liked by all who knew him for his honestly and integrity in the way
that he looked after his customers one and all . On behalf of myself and all that knew Bob , within the fancy , I
would like to offer sincere condolences to his loving partner Anne , Lorna ( Dtr ) , Graham ( Son ) , Fiona and
the entire McMeekin family circle .
