Homer's Odyssey/BHW Plus - 15/05/09

Post by willie reynolds »

Back to this week and the rest of the Irish Organizations, Saturday morning 9th May dawned to torrential rain in some parts of the Country, this continued until late morning and as we approached mid-day the conditions were starting to brighten up, although an odd shower or two was still about, but over-all more Blue Sky and Sunshine than anything else and with excellent conditions in the South of Ireland and a very encouraging helping winds at both race points the East Down Combine and Ulster Federation both liberated at 12 Noon in a Westerly/South Westerly wind and a fast race was expected with many waiting with nets to get them down. The expectations were correct and the winning pigeons in both organisations with the winning velocities well over the 1800s. Full praise to both the EDC and Ulster Federation for proceeding as normal and enjoying yet another very successful race weekend by all accounts. Irish SR Fed, East Coast Fed and Munster Fed all released on Sunday, the ISR Fed in Barley Cove for an Open Race and Derby appear to have had a difficult time in what was a Lt NE wind at release. We have had difficult races from this point in the past, more details on the winners next time.
