North Antrim loft wins 1st & 2nd Open NIPA Talbenny National

The Premier Young Bird National for young birds was flown last Saturday 29th August, the NIPA released 4,222 birds in South Wales with other Irish Organizations. J McDowell & Sons from Ballymoney had a dream result getting two arrivals together at 13.16hrs flying 233 miles into North Antrim to take 1st & 2nd Open NIPA.

The Premier YB Nat was flown from Talbenny on Saturday, birds were released at 9.00am in a South West wind. Best birds in Mid Antrim were timed in Cullybackey a good card for Alan Darragh with three early birds all winning top places including 1st MAC. His Blue cock was timed at 13.07hrs to record velocity 1566 over the 220 miles from South Wales, H & R McCloy were next best.

Money for Rosscarbrrry Nat will be lifted on Wednesday 9th September 8.30 to 9.30pm, birds race marked Friday 11th September 3.30 to 6.00pm. Clocks will be ready after lorry leaves Cullybackey clubrooms. Sammy Bones from Muckamore is having a top season his loft was best again locally and recording velocity 1575 takes 1st in the East Antrim Sect C and 15th Open NIPA 555/4222. Ken Wilkinson & Son from New Antrim Amalgamated were best in the Mid Antrim Sect B finishing 3rd MAC and 5th Sect B. McConville Bros had a good card in Crumlin & District and Stewart Bros continue with yet another 1st in Randalstown.

North Antrim had another big result in the weekend YB National from Talbenny in South Wales, none better then Jack McDowell & Sons from Ballymoney who scored 1st & 2nd Open NIPA. This loft has a long record of success going back as long as I can remember, this will be the best result at the new address to follow up the success in the Old Bird Penzance. Robert McCook from the Windsor Social was best in Coleraine, it was a tight finish in the Coleraine Premier with D Coyles & Son just ahead of Hanson & Harpur.
