C&D SMYTH & SONS BEST FROM BUDE

The East Down Combine were in Bude in Cornwall on Saturday June 11th for the 3rd cross Channel race of the season and although the wind had shifted from an Easterly to a South -westerly direction the weather still had low cloud mist and heavy showers early in the day along the line of flight and it was 12.45 pm before the Race Controller and the team were happy to liberate and with the SW wind early times were expected and indeed the top 4 birds home made over 1600ypm but as you can see reading down the club ,Open and Section results the birds were in many cases well split up with the winning velocities in many clubs being much less than the leading Combine birds .
Winning first open and first West Section this week is a pencil blue Busschaert cock belonging to the Ballylesson partnership of C & D Smyth & sons on 1666ypm . This cock is a grandson of “Moneybegs” The Smyths no1 Busschaert stock hen and a dark cheq Busschaert cock from their good friend Sid Collins .
2nd Open was to Colin Lavery & son of Ballynahinch and you will recall the success this loft had from the King’s Cup last year when they recorded 4 day birds ,all making the prizes .
3rd open from Bude was Alex Crawford again from the Ballylesson club and these are the top three birds in the West Section .
Leading the East Section is Crossgar’s Sid McLoughlin who is enjoying a super season and has featured in the results regularly .
