Last weekend NIPA were competing from the new race point of Gowran Park Racecourse in Kilkenny, seems to have been a good success. East Antrim lofts filled the top places, Gregg Bros & McCandless of Titanic HPS and D & J Campbell from Eastway took 1st & 2nd Open NIPA with 19,174 birds competing.
Mr Robin Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman and Chairman of the Stormont Public Accounts Committee, has “warmly welcomed” the announcement from Stormont’s Finance Minister Mairtin O’Muilleoir that pigeon clubs will now receive rates relief the same as other sporting venues. This was announced during a visit by the Minister to the Cullybackey HPS in Co Antrim.

Matt Wray has best bird in Ballymena
Last weekend, the fifth race of the young bird season the birds were competing from the new race point of Gowran Park Racecourse in Kilkenny. The big early local bird was in Harryville HPS where Matt Wray with just five birds competing timed the winner at 2.03pm 6 minutes clear flying 158 miles into the Moat Road. The pigeon was a gift bird from William McLean of Rasharkin, top Lambrecht bloodlines. Next best was Brian Swann & Son from Kells & Dist winning three in a row and the top four in the club plus 1st 2 Bird. McFall & McManus from Ballymena & District had 1st & 2nd club, five minutes clear of the next bird timing at 2.06pm to the lofts at Lisnevenagh Road.
Cullybackey Centre details – Club monies for the Talbenny Nat will be lifted on Wednesday 24th August at Cullybackey HPS Clubrooms between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Race marking at Cullybackey will be on Thursday 25th August between 3.30pm and 6.00pm and all ETS systems must be cleared of all races. T3 Clocks will be ready after lorry leaves Cullybackey Centre.

Best bird at the weekend race from Gowran Park was timed by Thompson Bros of Crumlin & District around 1.47pm to record velocity 1509ypm well clear in the NIPA Sect B. McConville Bros were next best and both lofts had very good cards in what was a good race from Kilkenny. Brian Swann was best again in Kells & Dist, with the top four birds and also 1st 2 Bird Club. McFall & McManus have won all five races in New Antrim Amal and the Dickey team were winning in Randalstown for the third time.

North West Review – Local birds last weekend was on their 5th young bird race this time from a new venue at Gowran Park, Kilkenny. By all accounts it turned out a good race following liberation at 11.00am in a helping SW wind. Danny Dixon from Dunloy again leads the way with early arrivals into Dunloy and winning all races to date in Ballymoney HPS, for the second week J McDowell & Sons were next best topping West Combine. J Hutchinson & Son had 1st & 2nd in Dervock and J & M Milliken were best in Rasharkin & District. Lofts well placed in Sect A included W & J McLean from Rasharkin and Hanson & Harpur Coleraine. What a race it turned out for Howard & McSeveney top five arrivals in the Coleraine Premier and tops in the Coleraine Triangle. A & M Boyle had the top three in Windsor Social.

Matt Wray has best bird in Ballymena
Last weekend, the fifth race of the young bird season the birds were competing from the new race point of Gowran Park Racecourse in Kilkenny. The big early local bird was in Harryville HPS where Matt Wray with just five birds competing timed the winner at 2.03pm 6 minutes clear flying 158 miles into the Moat Road. The pigeon was a gift bird from William McLean of Rasharkin, top Lambrecht bloodlines. Next best was Brian Swann & Son from Kells & Dist winning three in a row and the top four in the club plus 1st 2 Bird. McFall & McManus from Ballymena & District had 1st & 2nd club, five minutes clear of the next bird timing at 2.06pm to the lofts at Lisnevenagh Road.
Cullybackey Centre details – Club monies for the Talbenny Nat will be lifted on Wednesday 24th August at Cullybackey HPS Clubrooms between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Race marking at Cullybackey will be on Thursday 25th August between 3.30pm and 6.00pm and all ETS systems must be cleared of all races. T3 Clocks will be ready after lorry leaves Cullybackey Centre.

Best bird at the weekend race from Gowran Park was timed by Thompson Bros of Crumlin & District around 1.47pm to record velocity 1509ypm well clear in the NIPA Sect B. McConville Bros were next best and both lofts had very good cards in what was a good race from Kilkenny. Brian Swann was best again in Kells & Dist, with the top four birds and also 1st 2 Bird Club. McFall & McManus have won all five races in New Antrim Amal and the Dickey team were winning in Randalstown for the third time.

North West Review – Local birds last weekend was on their 5th young bird race this time from a new venue at Gowran Park, Kilkenny. By all accounts it turned out a good race following liberation at 11.00am in a helping SW wind. Danny Dixon from Dunloy again leads the way with early arrivals into Dunloy and winning all races to date in Ballymoney HPS, for the second week J McDowell & Sons were next best topping West Combine. J Hutchinson & Son had 1st & 2nd in Dervock and J & M Milliken were best in Rasharkin & District. Lofts well placed in Sect A included W & J McLean from Rasharkin and Hanson & Harpur Coleraine. What a race it turned out for Howard & McSeveney top five arrivals in the Coleraine Premier and tops in the Coleraine Triangle. A & M Boyle had the top three in Windsor Social.
