Jimmy Rock tops Sect B for Harryville -

After the difficult race last week the NIPA put back the remainder of their young bird programme and for this week inserted an inland race from Gowran Park in Kilkenny. By all accounts a good quick race for the winners and most bird home, 12,200 birds were competing from just short of 500 members. Best bird locally was timed by Jimmy Rock in Harryville flying just over 3 hours for the 158 miles to record velocity 1533 and 1st Sect B. The young Blue cock was bred from a cock on loan from Alan Darragh mated with one of his Jacob birds from Oroory Hill Stud which have won through to France. The Dickey Family had another top result in Randalstown just pipped by W & J McLean for the MAC. Danny Dixon had all the early birds in Ballymoney and Alan Darragh the top four arrivals in Cullybackey. Bertie Blair wins Ballymena & Dist for the second week with the same Black Pied cock bred by Steele & McNeill the best of their Lambrecht family that have bred many winner for themselves and others. The local fancy were saddened to learn of the passing of Lorna, wife of Leonard Davidson Cullybackey and the former Secretary in Rasharkin & Dist. She had been in ill health for many years and was cared for at home. Sincere condolences to the big pigeon related family circle at this sad time.
