He has a top racing record in the INFC where he served as Secretary for many years including winning the Blue Riband Kings Cup and also been 4th & 5th Open. “Clan Queen” made history winning in 1988 from Rennes. He has also finished 2nd Open in the Yearling National and 3rd in the Blue Riband YB Nat Penzance.
Racing with the Mighty NIPA he has won 1st Open from Talbenny and then in 2014 scored a fantastic double with 1st Open Penzance and 1st Open OB Classic beating 4966 birds with his Blue w/f cock “Classic 3.57” who also won the RPRA Irish Region 250-450 Mileage Award. This year again he scored a top performance with his Mealy cock “Super Ryan” taking 1st Sect E & 4th Open NIPA St Malo when only 10 Birds were clocked in 3 days in the Old Bird National.
At club level he has won the Old Bird, Cross Channel and Combined Averages numerious times including 2016 and 2017. Last season the only member to clock in both major races from France, St Malo with the NIPA and St Allouestre with the INFC. In addition to these 2 Top Cock preformances his best racing hen is “Charlotte” who was 1st Portadown Centre, 3rd Sect E & 69th Open Rosscarbery as a young bird and then as a yearling won 16th Sect & 50th Open St Malo in 2016.
The lofts No 1 Breeding Hen is “Clan Princess” (Vandenabeele & Soontjen) who is the dam and g/dam of over 20 x Prize-winners and is the g/dam of NIPA Sect E Champion Young Bird in 2017 for the Hagan & Rowney team. Gift birds to friends have won many prizes and this year alone Brendan Curley of Monaghan was 1st & 3rd Open in the OB Fermoy 5 Bird Championship and Richard Mulligan from the same club won 5th Open in Talbenny YB Nat. In the YB Fermoy 5 Bird Championship Hagan & Rowney of Portadown & Drumcree were 3rd & 4th Open with Grand-children of “Clan Princess”
The main stock in the loft includes birds from good friend the late Jack Patience, Herbie McVeigh, Gerald Delaney and Corneel Bertels Belgium and Smet van Winckel also Belgium. In addition he has one bird from Alfons Hendrickx from Berlaar in Belgium a top breeder and she is a direct daughter of multiple Nat Prize-winner “ RIKKY" who is also a 1st Provincial and 1st Inter Provincial winner, she is dam of “Charlotte”.
The sale will include birds off all the main winners and breeders of winners including four from “Classic 3.57”, three of these are from “Clan Princess”. Two from the St Malo winner “Super Ryan” a sister and daughter of “Charlotte” and two from “Red 76” top breeder and g/sire to “Super Ryan”. Also a very good selection from Corneel Bertels and the Smet van Winckel’s multiple winning bloodlines. Some birds off recently acquired stock from the late Maurice Wilkkinson of Lurgan, lines of his Kings Cup winner “Mowo” and “May” his top French prize winner and breeder.
