The sixth Young Bird race was flown from Mallow on Sat 22nd. the birds were liberated at 930am into a light south wind the winning loft this week was Colin and Dorothy Smyth with a Blue Pied Hen flying the 199 miles in 3 hours 27 minutes to record a velocity of 1695.1 ypm to win 1st Club 1st West Section and 1st Open C & D Colin’s good lady Dorothy also picked this bird to win the clubs declared to win that’s good picking Dorothy they where also 2nd club 2nd West Section 2nd Open with a White Flight Cock on 1693.5ypm 3rd Club 4th West Section 4th Open was Ken and Betty McConaghie with a Mealy Pied Hen on 1687.0ypm.
