The RPRA acknowledges that – under the current restrictions – certain rules may be difficult to implement. Therefore, the attached document outlines where clubs may wish to suspend or relax such rules.
RPRA Rules during Coronavirus Restrictions
During the current Government restrictions the following rules will be relaxed.
Rule 125b.
Baskets will still have to be sealed but the requirement for two members of the
association to accompany the pigeon will be relaxed/removed.
Rule 125b States
When transporting competing racing pigeons from Clubs to Organisations transport
all baskets must be sealed by an RPRA
approved seal, the birds must be accompanied by at least two members of the
association who may not be subjects of the same partnership
Rules 188. & 215
Where all other alternatives have been explored and exhausted clubs may wish to
relax/suspend rules 188/215.
Rule 188 states.
NO MEMBER SHALL BE ALLOWED TO MARK OR RACE RING HIS/HER OWN BIRDS OR TAKE ANY
ACTIVE PART IN THE PROCEDURE
Rule 215 states
NO MEMBER SHALL ASSIST IN ANY WAY IN THE SETTING AND CHECKING OF HIS/HER OWN CLOCK.
Rule 235 (a)
In the event of a defect or loss of an ETS ring clubs can continue to allocate a
new electronic ring at marking. However clubs should keep a back up supply of
rings. In no circumstances should members of the race marking team be making
further contact with the member to obtain a replacement ring. If spare rings are
not available the pigeon should be returned to the member in the basket.
Rule 235 (a)states
Electronic rings must be allocated to the ring numbers of the member’s pigeons a
minimum of 7 days prior to the use of the ETS. Allocation on marking nights will
only be permitted due to a defect or loss of an electronic ring.
Rule 126
Additional requirements will be added to the Convoyers code of conduct (attached)
to reflect the Governments position during the Covid-19 restrictions.
Rule 127 (c)
Members and Clubs are also reminded of the requirements of rule 127c
127 c) States
In any age races or designated young bird races no old birds shall be allowed in
the same baskets or containers as the young birds. Old birds may be transported on
the same transporter but in separate baskets or containers.
