Timmy Hennessys Lofts ,
Co. Cork ,Republic of Ireland
By jamie Kelly
Today's loft report is on timmy Hennessy and his father from co.cork Ireland, iv been watching this loft the past few years and they have really been flying very well in particularly in the channell races into cork .
Timmy and his father race in the north west club in cork and also the cork city federation,
And recently joined the north road national and infc and also ihunfc and have had great success from the off in these very testing races .the highlight for the 2020 season was winning the big Perth race again for the second year running to win the cork fed back to back from Perth 370 miles was a great achievement,Timmy told me there winner from perth in 2020 was the only bird in cork on the day flying 11hrs on the wing on a very testing day flying 370 from Perth ,that great winner is now named the perth cock and wat a great pigeon he is ,not only to fly all the way from Perth alone to be the only bird of the day but this cock also has a 1st club 2nd cork fed from coleraine 235miles and then also 1st club 5th cork fed from cookstown 202 miles, that really is a great pigeon on land and sea as any1 who knows the route these lads fly it's not for the faint hearted and is very very though going in head winds most weeks so this Perth cock is special for sure a superb pigeon. The previous year in 2019 Timmy's winner from perth that year and also topping the cork city fed again that day was his pigeon now named the minstrel, he was flying 11hrs on the wing to win the cork fed that day so another superb effort from a very testing race ,so with this lofts great success from the likes of Perth they decided to have a go at some of the other nationals from penzance and st Malo and yet again different route but this did not make much difference as good pigeons are good pigeons regardless of were they race from and Timmy's birds proved that as his first go was penzance and he clocked his beautiful mealy hen Faye to win and impressive 8th ihunfc national and 1st section,,so after enjoying success at penzance the lads decided to have a go at the big 1 France to cork is no easy trip for pigeon I can tell u ,,the lads dont go for big numbers for these races more so quality so for the 2020 st Malo race from France they got there good 2 year old cock tadhg ready for this race, tadhg had a few races during the old bird season and then was trained with the young bird team leading up to the st.malo race ,so the lads just sent 1 single entry to st.malo in 2020 and it was there first and only ever Pigeon they ever sent to france and again as I said good birds are good birds regardless of direction and Timmy's good cock tadhg proved that flying st.malo on the day into cork flying 12hrs on the wing and with a very impressive time considering the location he was flying to compared to most birds released in st.malo that day ,,so any1 who knows how to read a result properly I'm sure would agree Timmy's birds from penzance and st malo in 2020 were as good as anything in the race to make the time they did on the route they had to fly compared the majority of the comfine.now a bit of the system ,timmy tells me during the winter after the moulth all birds will get treatment of 10 days parastop followed by cocci ,canker and worms ,prior to pairing,,all birds will be paired up middle to end of January and will all be aload rare a round of ybs ,once yb ars rared,,the old bird team then get split and will be raced on round about system up untill about the 5th or 6th land race when then they will be paired up to try them sitting on eggs or young birds for there targeted channel races of the year,,one condition timmy Likes is cocks on 10 day old yb as his Perth winners both won on them next conditions, feeding wise timmy uses beatties champion supreme and will add extra peanuts,,hemp and condition seed leading up to the big day on the water races . Timmy would like to thank wall bros ,ger Sullivan, and Michael john trainer For the great birds the lads have supplied this loft with and also dermot Whitley for who timmy trains his birds with along with most lads in cork on dermots trailer and timmy says alot of lads be stuck only for dermot great help training. So there u have an insite into a great loft from co.cork a place in the country were there is many great fanciers but unfortunately never seem to get thr recognision they deserve, well done lads really super flying and I'm sure they will be plenty more big days in the coming seasons, best of luck.
