For those of us worrying about channel racing, worry no more. I got the following from the UK animal and plant health agency, the people responsible for importing: Good afternoon, Alan, I have received the following advice from our International Veterinary Team:-
“There is no legislation covering racing pigeons and no health certificate available for this sort of import.
This is specifically the case for racing pigeons brought into GB for the purpose of release to fly back to their origin country, not those being imported permanently. Racing pigeons brought for release for racing do not have to follow the legislation and therefore do not require a health certificate - although they need to provide proof of the purpose for which they have been imported”. I hope this assists. Alan Meehan supplied text.
