MID ULSTER FEDERATION – 2nd GOWRAN PARK YOUNG BIRD RACE

The Mid Ulster Federation continued its 2026 young bird programme with 2nd Gowran Park on Saturday 15th August, and this week’s race produced a little piece of Federation history.
Taking 1st Federation are G & S McMullan of Bleary, recording 1353.014 ypm with a youngster that members will already know very well — “Little Nims.”
🏆 LITTLE NIMS DOES THE DOUBLE
Just two weeks after winning 1st Federation from 2nd Portlaoise, Little Nims has done it again, returning to the top of the result to win 1st Federation from 2nd Gowran Park.
In doing so, Little Nims becomes the first double Federation winner of the season, a tremendous achievement for Jeff and Stan and a young pigeon that is quickly building an outstanding record.
Little Nims was named in memory of one of the 14 Peaks climbers who tragically lost his life in an avalanche.
His breeding is Ceuster × Rico. The sire of Little Nims and the dam of G & S McMullan’s second pigeon at Portlaoise are summer-bred nestmates from last year, with Jeff and Stan extending their thanks to Tim Webster UK for the Rico bloodlines.
Congratulations to Jeff and Stan on a fantastic achievement and, of course, to Little Nims — twice a Federation winner in the space of just two weeks.
HOGGIS
There was very little separating the leading pigeons at Hoggis, where R. Buckley came out on top with a velocity of 1352.789, taking an excellent 2nd Federation.
G. Buckley & Son were right behind on 1352.710 for 2nd Centre and 3rd Federation, while Richard McCrackin took the next two positions on 1351.805 and 1351.667, placing 4th and 5th Federation.
Another extremely competitive result from the Hoggis Centre.
BLEARY
Behind the Federation-winning Little Nims, C & H Beattie took 2nd Bleary and 14th Federation on 1341.783.
Eddie McAlindin was 3rd Centre on 1324.599, followed by C. Duke & Sons in 4th on 1316.308.
Congratulations to everyone featuring in another strong Bleary result.
MEADOWS
Larkin Bros enjoyed a clean sweep of the leading positions at Meadows, taking 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Centre.
Their centre winner recorded 1303.707 ypm, with their next three youngsters recording 1278.798, 1244.893 and 1235.680.
A tremendous team performance from Larkin Bros.
