The Mid Antrim birds were in Clonmel at the weekend and despite a change with the race date some 2,300 birds were competing sent by 96 members. Liberation on Friday was at 12.30pm in a helping Lt SW wind, the best local bird was timed in the Harryville HPS. Keith Kernohan timed his young Cheq cock in Ballykeel just before 4.00pm to record velocity 1532 to take 1st Club & 1st in the Mid Antrim Combine. Sire was a Ponderosa Van Loon and the dam was a Vermeerbergen/Van Reet, a sister to Bird of the Year and D Lowry’s Classic Combine winner. Just beat in a photo finish was Ballymena & Dist President Billy Smyth, W & J timed a Blue Cheq hen seconds before 4.00pm flying 182 miles to Carniny Road.

Talbenny National Race Marking – The race entry fees etc. will be collected on Wednesday 28th August from 8.30pm to 9.30pm at Cullybackey Clubrooms. Birds will be race marked in Cullybackey on Thursday 29th August from 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm. Clocks ready after transporter leaves centre. Clubs should send two members to assist at both race marking and clock checking.
