The Rabbit Hotel in Templepatrick fresh from its success of winning the Northern Ireland Hotel of the Year hosted the annual NIPA Ladies Night on Friday 11th November with the members and guests welcomed by the Chairman Pat McLaughlin from the Maiden City RPS in Derry. He introduced the guests including from the RPRA (Irish Region) President Sam Briggs, Chairman Cormac O’Hare and Secretary Noel Higginson and main sponsors Frazer Animal Feeds from Banbridge and Beattie’s Bird & Pet Foods from Tandragee. They were joined by the NIPA officials President Paddy Murray, Secretary Fred Russell and Assistant Secretary Gregory McEvoy. Before the meal of Roast Beef Tom McKinstry said grace and then followed the long presentation of awards. More photos later.
In the local Section B and Mid Antrim it was a season to remember with a host of top results, firstly topping the Mighty NIPA on 5 occasions starting at the first race for old birds with Trevor Whyte when racing in Rasharkin had 1st Open, Sam Murphy of Kells winning 1st Open from Bude. Even better in the young birds with wins in Ballymoney HPS, Davy Devenney had 1st Open in the first one of the season, from the new point of Kilbeggan and then the local ace racer Danny Dixon having a best ever season won 1st Open NIPA from Tullamore and Fermoy (2). In the various Section Competitions J Eagleson & Sons from Ballymena & District won the OB Inland Sect Fancier of the Year, Willie Blair from Ballymoney won OB Cross Channel Sect Fancier of the Year, Danny Dixon won YB Section Fancier of the Year, Sam Murphy had Champion Old Bird in Sect B and Danny Dixon had Champion Young Bird. In the hard OB National from St Malo in France Martin Graham from Ballymena won the Bronze Diploma, and a Bronze Diploma as well for A C & T Tweed of Rasharkin & District HPS, both lofts excel at the distance events.
